"Danzig" is the 1988 debut album of the American heavy metal band Danzig, led by Glenn Danzig who was formerly the songwriter and vocalist of The Misfits and Samhain. The album was also the first release on producer Rick Rubin's new label Def American Recordings. Def American's successor, American Recordings reissued the album in the USA and UK in 1998.

Empires and Dance is the third studio album by Simple Minds, released in 1980. It reached #41 in the UK Albums Chart. The opening track "I Travel" was released as a single in 1980, failing to chart. Following the release of this album, Simple Minds transferred to Virgin Records, where they met with much greater commercial success. Arista tried to capitalize on this success by re-releasing "I Travel" as a single in 1982, and again in 1983. Both times, it still failed to chart.

Nice 'n' Greasy is the fifth studio album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. In the US, the record was issued on Elektra in a different sleeve (pictured) to most territories and retitled Atomic Rooster IV, as their first album, Atomic Roooster, failed to secure a US release. The US album also had a somewhat different tracklist to the UK version. The German release followed the US track listing, but with a phallic art sleeve. A fine post-bop improviser and alto saxman, Jim Snidero is a bit underrated but is well-appreciated by his fellow musicians. He attended the University of North Texas and moved to New York in 1981. Snidero toured and recorded with Jack McDuff, he's been a member of the Toshiko Akiyoshi Jazz Orchestra since the mid-'80s, has worked with the backup bands of Frank Sinatra and Eddie Palmieri, and has spent time playing with the Frank Wess Sextet, the Mel Lewis Orchestra, and the Mingus Big Band. As a leader, Jim Snidero has recorded for the Japanese East World label (1984), Ken, Square Discs, Red, and Criss Cross. He has also recorded as a sideman with Brian Lynch, Conrad Herwig, and Tom Varner, and been active in jazz education both as a teacher and as an author of instructional books.

Carlton's replacement in the L.A. Express, ace sideman Robben Ford, is the other "name" guest star on this 2006 outing taped at Paris' New Morning nightclub (as part of the club's 25th anniversary celebration festivities), which otherwise features the cream of French studio musicians in an informal assemblage known as Autour du Blues (Around the Blues).
This is a fiery evening of some great blues featuring two stellar sidemen from the United States easily communicating with their French counterparts. One of the more unusual offerings in the New Morning series should delight lovers of the blues in particular, but any pop-rock music lover generally.
