”Alphabetical” is the second album by the French rock band Phoenix, released in 2004. The album has sold 30,000 copies in the United States according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album has two singles; "Everything Is Everything" and "Run Run Run".
In the early Seventies with the British Blues scene a little stale, Stan Webb took time out from his band Chicken Shack to form a brilliant band entitled broken glass featuring such great players as Miller Anderson, Robbie Blunt, Mac Poole and Rob Rawlinson. The three pronged guitar attack of Webb, Anderson and Blunt soon had venues rocking and EMI put the money up for the bands debut album. The album hit the streets to great reviews and Broken Glass seemed on their way to fame and fortune the quality of the Webb, Anderson, Bunt compositions was exceptional but as often beset bands in the Seventies problems with management ensued and the project collapsed. The legacy of Broken Glass is only one great album available here for the first time.
Vivaldi’s only surviving oratorio‚ Juditha triumphans (1716)‚ with its strongly characterised roles and luxuriant orchestration‚ is a true Baroque masterpiece. Like Handel’s Roman oratorio‚ La Resurrezione (1708)‚ Vivaldi’s Venetian Juditha was designed to impress its audiences. The Ospedale della Pietà‚ where Vivaldi was maestro dei concerti‚ competed with three other similar institutions for the patronage of wealthy Venetians‚ and the annual Lenten performances offered the perfect opportunity.
The internationally active jazz band SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS have finally announced a new release, this time for a jazz cover album titled “SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS presents Stoned Pirates Radio.”
The band wants to give the cover album the feel of a pirated radio show mix tape, quite a unique concept for a jazz release. The entire album won’t be singular songs, but one flowing piece that will be narrated by a the voice of a yet unnamed foreign DJ. It will have short skits by the members and even made up commercials in between the segments.
Hard-cornered, sharp-edged, and superbly played, the Mandelring Quartett's series of performances of Shostakovich's string quartets recorded for the Audite label are splendid examples of the modernist-internationalist manner.
