The Unforgiving is the bands most diverse album to date, a dazzling tour-de-force of state-of-the-art hard rock, gleaming pop melodies, razor-sharp arrangements, and powerful, shadow-shrouded atmospheres. The Unforgiving is quite unlike any previous Within Temptation album. Every one of its 12 tracks boasts a huge, instantly memorable melody, and yet there is enormous diversity and versatility on display here, as the band move skilfully from instant thrills to epic bombast. xpanded art including a foldout poster which names every fan that participated in their social media promotion.
Thunderhead is a southern rock band formed in New Orleans. With the help of Johnny and Edgar Winter's signature production, they were signed in 1974 to ABC/Dunhill with only one official self-titled release. This is an album wiht some previously unreleased songs.
Starting with their third album, A Piece of Strange, which dropped in 2006, CunninLynguists began tackling some heavier topics, such as racism, self-hatred, and violence. There was still a light air of wit here and there, but this trio was looking to focus on the more serious side of life, which continued with 2007's Dirty Acres. The fans who loved CunninLynguists' goofier style were quickly appeased, though, with the two Strange Journey mixtape-style albums in 2009. But for their fifth proper album, it appears Kno, Deacon the Villain, and Natti are returning to the serious subject matter. As the album title indicates, Oneirology will deal with the science of dreaming, from the stages of sleep to dreaming disorders and everything in between.
The inexhaustible and compelling journey of exploring Bach’s cantatas and the great choruses which define the heart of their message – lies primarily in the depth, richness and variety of Bach’s response to the seamless rhythm of the liturgical year. Particular events in the Lutheran calendar are associated with the contemplative or the celebratory and yet, within these seasonal expectations, Bach departs radically from convention in his nearly-200 surviving church cantatas written between about 1703 and the late 1740s.
With the exception of saxophonist Jan Garbarek , fellow Norwegian Arild Andersen —who has a considerably smaller discography as a leader—has created some of the ECM label's most stylistically diverse music since the early 1970s. From exploring the nexus of traditional folk music and improvisation on Sagn to the fusion-centric Molde Concert, the spontaneous composition of Karta and the Nordic Cool-meets-string quartet of Hyperborean, Andersen has explored a host of different angles from which to approach his personal jazz-centricity. ~ AllAboutJazz
An early outlier in the ECM catalog, Output convulses with as much lively originality as it did when it was first released. Wolfgang Dauner, perhaps better known as founder of the United Jazz + Rock Ensemble (which saw ECM greats Eberhard Weber, Kenny Wheeler, and Charlie Mariano pass through its hallowed halls), assembles a modest trio of talent for this classic 1970 studio free-for-all. The end result is humor, provocation, brilliance, and chaos all rolled into one. ~ ECMReviews
