Rarely do we come across as intimate and wide-angled a set as this collection of Dmitri Shostakovich's 15 string quartets, all of them played by the Russian Borodin Quartet. Recorded in Moscow between 1978 and 1983, the quartets are excellently reproduced in digital sound by Sviatoslav Richter, who maintains just enough shadow from the old Melodiya vinyl's audio vérité to make the music breathe passionately…

The Rubble Collection is mostly a collection 60s United Kingdom rock, psyche & garage rarities. From what I have read, the series got started in 1984 and continued up through at least 2002.

Formed in late 99.Coldwar started out mixing equal parts hardcore punk and extreme metal into an angry incendiary assault.Over the years the band has toured all over Ireland the UK and have made several trips to Europe and the USA. Pure Negativity' is the debut album of Finnish black metal outfit, Graveborne, founded in 2008 by guitarist Marchosias and drummer Pentele. Graveborne previously released one demo in 2009 entitled 'Astride Over the Grave', subsequently reissued on 10" vinyl by Floga Records. 'Astride Over the Grave' obtained very positive reviews, with the music described as; raw, fast, and even catchy black metal reminiscent of Marduk, Gorgoroth, Impaled Nazarene, early Emperor and Immortal.

Sequel reissued the bulk of Gene Pitney's '60s albums for Musicor as a series of compact discs that contains two original albums each. Although the material on each disc is different, one basic pattern does emerge – by and large, the singles were the best songs on each album, but the remaining songs, usually comprised of solid album tracks, covers and filler, are generally interesting to hardcore fans, since Pitney has such a uniquely dramatic voice. In other words, most fans will be satisfied by one of the many hits collections, but these discs are essential for serious fans and collectors.

Of the many solo soprano recordings by British improviser Evan Parker, few offer as intimate a portrait as this one in terms of his development as an artist. In 1993, Parker had hit a new stride in his playing. He worked – as he does now – long hours to find a way through the improvisation barrier imposed by the restrictions of circular and conventional breathing, toward a series of microtonal possibilities that were adaptable in virtually any situation, solo or group. His practice had led him to a place of opening the breathing techniques toward new microphonics and multiple sonances. His wish to document them, however, led to his nearly abandoning his findings. He discovered that in the music rooms of Holywell in England, that the harmonic atmospherics of the room, of the architecture itself, provided an entirely new set of tonal and spatial possibilities he hadn't counted upon and proceeded to make a record to document those instead.

Belonging to these forecasts you can hear two tracks from the upcoming Paul Stephenson album, who already had recorded two CDs for Stockfisch. Furthermore one song by Zebra Sommerwind, the trio around Fiedelmichel-doyen Thomas Kagermann, featuring German (folk-)songs in contemporary arrangements. Also Stockfisch is pleased to present the German singer Katja Werker with her version of the "Karat" classic "Über sieben Brücken musst du gehen", one of twelve songs she recorded for her upcoming CD. A Stockfisch fellow guitarist from the early years flew over from the US to visit Northeim, Ralf Illenberger (formerly playing with Martin Kolbe). He recorded his solo guitar album with Günter Pauler to be released in 2011. "Closer to the Music Volume 4" offers more than 73 minutes of musical highlights to get in first touch with Stockfisch artists as well as sound and/or just for enjoyable listening.

DJ Bobo is the musical alias of Swiss Euro-dance singer and DJ Peter Rene Cipiriano Baumann. He had his first dance hit in 1992 with "Somebody Dance with Me," and since then, he's released a bunch of records and singles, most of which more successful in Switzerland and Germany. 2006's Greatest Hits was his second collection of singles. It features "The Secrets of Love," a duo with European '80s pop diva Sandra, and was certified gold in Switzerland.
