Second album of rip-roaring old-school thrashing fun from this great Canadian band. An improvement in every area from their first album, including the artwork!
The Chronicle of the Black Sword is the fourteenth studio album by the English space rock group Hawkwind, released in 1985. It spent two weeks on the UK albums chart peaking at #65. The album is based upon the adventures of Elric of Melniboné, a recurring character in the novels of science fiction author Michael Moorcock, a long standing associate of the group, who contributes lyrics to one track on the album.
David Bowie - The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars (2009 Japanese exclusive limited edition 11-track digitally remastered SHM-CD album originally released in 1972 presented in mini LP-style card sleeve with mini replica lyric inner bag fold-out Japanese/English lyric sheet + obi strip).
The album takes its name from the Marx Brothers film "A Night at the Opera", which the Queen watched one night at the studio complex when recording. It was originally released by EMI in the United Kingdom, where it topped the charts for four non-consecutive weeks, and Elektra Records in the United States, where it peaked at #4.
Universal's double-disc Icon doubles the size of their single-disc set of the same name and covers the same ground only in greater detail, adding a few more live tracks and studio staples to draw a greater picture of his ABC and MCA recordings of the late ‘60s, ‘70s, and beyond. It’s a bit shorter than 2006’s Gold and not quite as rounded, yet it’s still a very good sampler of B.B. King at his latter-day best.–by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
This is an arena rock CD complex and textured that will pull you into dark mysterious places. Weather your a straight up blues fan, rocker or metal freak, you'll be digging the action of Jay's great fret work. Amazing solos that are well orchestrated that will peel the paint off the walls. Sharon on bass, anchors all the tracks while laying it down and dirty with the drummer Abe as he carves up the beats red hot. Songs that rock and vocals that soar, this trio were all born under the same bad sign and sounds like a thousand harleys.
In its ongoing series of reissues under the Double Time Jazz Collection moniker, Eagle Eye Media has put together two tribute shows on one DVD that demonstrate how a conception that is reverent yet forward-thinking can work wonderfully in one instance, and somewhat less-so in another. Tribute to John Coltrane: Live Under the Sky is an almost relentless, take-no-prisoners homage to Coltrane that works because it tries to take his music to a new place that is nevertheless respectful of its roots. Tribute to Bill Evans: Live at the Brewhouse is less successful because, while the musicianship is uniformly excellent, the lineage to Evans is less direct.
Here is, now, « The years with Popa Chubby », including the best of its past ten years from the first recordings (The First Cuts) to the latest limited live series (Wild). A vitamin packed collection of 16 re-mastered recordings that have pleased fans since the day they’ve discovered the King of the New York City Blues.
Of the miles of Red Garland sessions recorded in the late '50s, some of the tapes didn't see the light of day until many years later. This session, except for "Crazy Rhythm," first appeared in the early '70s, and is typical of Garland's trio work of the '50s, evoking a mid-century nightclub atmosphere from Rudy Van Gelder's studio with the perfectly gauged help of bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Art Taylor.
El Camino is the seventh studio album by American blues-rock duo The Black Keys. It was co-produced by Danger Mouse and the band and was released on Nonesuch Records.
