British metallers HOSTILE — who feature in their ranks bassist Alex Hill, son of JUDAS PRIEST's Ian Hill released their debut album, "Eve Of Destruction", on October 31. The CD was produced by former JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing. The band admitted it has been the most incredible learning experience working alongside Downing, who would take songs the band thought were complete and rework them into something even more spectacular.

Colours is the night album by Eloy.

Eloy is a German progressive rock band, whose musical style includes symphonic and space rock, the latter theme being more prevalent on earlier albums. Despite their nationality and time period, the band is not generally considered krautrock because of their sound, which has much more in common with English progressive rock groups such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson and Yes.

Monty Alexander's Jamaican heritage is combined with his bop-oriented piano on this date to create some enjoyable music. This was his first recording to make use of a steel drummer (Vince Charles), and Alexander also uses an oversized rhythm section with Jamaican guitarist Ernest Ranglin, bassist Andy Simpkins, both Duffy Jackson and Roger Bethelmy on drums and percussionist Larry McDonald. The repertoire (which includes four Alexander originals and George Benson's poppish "Weekend In L.A.") is mostly obscure, but the interpretations are lively and full of spirit.

A 1980 date with trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie playing in an unusual trio setting with guitarist Toots Thielemans and drummer Bernard Purdie. Purdie, a consummate funk and R&B percussionist, makes the switch to mainstream material adequately, while Gillespie and Thielemans establish a quick, consistent rapport.

CD compilation album released in Spain in 1998 by Star Records label that brings together 18 of the biggest hits ofRoy Orbison (Texas, 1936-1988). Orbison enjoyed a huge international success during the 60's and later at 80. His voice with his unique personal image added a stamp of uniqueness to his figure. His compositions styles evolved from the initial country, rockabily and blues to the latest rock and romantic ballads.

Tom Petersson gets to show his stuff on a Fender acoustic bass on the intro of California Man followed by Neilson's soloing. Soon he is jamming full form, and Carlos has joined in on the drums. Finally Zander comes out screaming going to a party. The band slows down for The Flame, and Zander proves he can still sing a ballad. Elvis would have been proud of the band's cover of Don't Be Cruel. Zander and Petersson both riff on acoustics while Nielsen adds a bit of zip to the song. Two old favorites are brought out to close the show I Want You to Want Me and Surrender.

Maestro Bernard Haitink evokes a triumphant performance from the Berlin Philharmonic with this rendition of Mahler's fourth and seventh symphonies. In addition to Haitnik's mastery over the material, Sylvia McNair's solo vocals add another layer of aural texture to a performance that reveals the genius of Mahler's compositions.
