This is a musical project of siblins Possessed Blackheart (Lilith, Black Candles, ex-Effigy of Gods)(guitars, bass, programming) and Lix Tetrax (Decomposing Flesh, Octubre Negro, ex-Metastasys, ex-Effigy of Gods) (Voices). The demo contains 3 songs from cold, dark, heavy and anti-Christian black metal, without keyboards, little melody but great sound from beginning to end. It was released on September 2009 and presented at Illimani Metal Festival, held in La Paz, Bolivia on September 20th, 2009.
Fans of dramatic, symphonic Euro metal have something to look forward to when the cold, dark, dreary winter sets in. Finnish/Swedish superstars NIGHTWISH will release their new album, "Imaginaerum", in North America on January 10, 2012 via Roadrunner Records and it will serve as a welcome beckon of warmth and light in an otherwise dark season! The album is the band's first since 2007's "Dark Passion Play", which was then-new singer Anette Olzon's debut.
Japanese pianist Masahiko Satoh teams up with Eddie Gomez on bass and Steve Gadd on drums on this LP which was released in 1985 on the Interface label.
A superbly arranged, produced, and mastered session from a wonderful vocalist. Wilson's singing, delivery, and tone are enticing and sensual throughout, even when the songs threaten to get overly sentimental or just sappy. Although the album was aimed at the adult contemporary audience, Wilson never coasted through any number, and this was about as polished and effective as this kind of session could get.
Remarkably few of flutist Herbie Mann's recordings are available on CD, but fortunately this one did get reissued. Mann's hit version of "Comin' Home Baby" from this live set became his first big hit. Composer Ben Tucker plays second bass on that cut, and Mann's other sidemen include vibraphonist Hagood Hardy, bassist Ahmed Abdul-Malik, drummer Rudy Collins, and Chief Bey and Ray Mantilla on percussion. In addition to "Comin' Home Baby," Mann and his men perform memorable versions of "Summertime" and "It Ain't Necessarily So"; the latter is 20 minutes long. Recommended.
In this 1969 concert, Jimmy Smith was still at the top of his game. Trim and dapper, his enthusiasm in his playing is obvious from the start. The camera angles give us special insight into how Jimmy Smith did the remarkable things he did. Watching his performance of “The Sermon” is indeed special. We are permitted to see the entire instrument. Watching his left hand walk the bass on the lower manual is to witness a technique he invented. When he begins the drone with his right thumb and begins to improvise with the remaining fingers, he gets fired up and deeply into the feeling. This is one great piece of jazz video.
Critics praised the bands catchy, humorous, and self-deprecating songs, which were a major departure from the grunge/post-grunge sound present on the airwaves. The album received Grammy nominations in 1996 and 1997. Though "Peaches" met the most critical success, the band credits "Lump" as their favorite single…
The 1998 “jazzopen” music festival culminated in an evening for Joachim-Ernst Berendt, the title of whose book Die Welt ist Klang (“The world is sound”) accurately sums up the festival’s programmatic approach and was therefore taken as its motto. In collaboration with this “High Priest of Jazz” – who was 76 at the time and has since died – a program was put together which united some of the most talented musicians, capable of conveying on stage Berendt’s universality of musical understanding.
One of the easiest jobs in music has to be producer of a Little Joe Washington album. Make sure he shows up at the studio - itself no small feat, though not as difficult as it used to be - turn on the recording equipment and get out of the way. On his second album for Austin's Dialtone Records (following 2003's Houston Guitar Blues), the blues flows so effortlessly out of Washington's guitar it's hard to believe any of these 15 songs needed more than one take….
