Despite the title, there isn't a lot that's unified on vibraphonist Stefon Harris' THE GRAND UNIFICATION THEORY. As song titles like "Corridor of Elusive Dreams," "Escape to Quiet Desperation," and "The Mystic Messenger" might indicate, the album is a grab bag of experimental sounds and stylistic shifts woven together with moments of melodic post bop and other excerpts from the traditional jazz handbook.
n the Bolivian capital of La Paz, this band had already released in 2000 "The Conquering Of The Eternal Wisdom" an acclaimed debut album, and held at numerous gigs in Bolivia and Peru. LILITH's debut is a refreshing album, which does not only follow the beaten path, but allows itself to stray at least a bit, bringing in calmer breakdowns, a little clean voice, interesting arrangements and all, which to me is something that many of the bands from the Metal-wise more populated and more acknowledged regions cannot claim and that is something that gives this quintet from Bolivia a big plus with me!
Daedalion is a French Black Metal band with influences of Thrash & Medieval Metal.Daedalion's first album was released in 2007. "Sainte Folie/ Erige Un Empire" contains the Medieval and Thrash influences with the violence increased by a better production. The lyrical content and theme is centered mainly on misanthropy, nihilism, madness and legends.
Of the collections of Elmo Hope's '50s recordings, Trio and Quintet is the one to get. It includes his prime Blue Note sessions and features a stellar cast of hard bop musicians including Art Blakey, Frank Foster, Philly Joe Jones, and Harold Land. The majority of the tunes are Hope originals which, in their angular introspection, bear the influence of both Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk.
Frampton Comes Alive! II is a 1995 live album by English musician Peter Frampton. It is a sequel to his 1976 multiplatinum album Frampton Comes Alive. The title is styled as Frampton Comes Alive II on packaging.
This is an excellent collection of their 1959-1963 recordings on the King label. It doesn't have any tracks from their earlier recordings with Federal. Of the 25 tracks on this cd, 20 are presented in stereo for the first time.
Why Am I Treated So Bad! is a live album by the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, recorded at the Capitol studios in Los Angeles in 1967. The song "I'm on My Way", was written by his nephew Nat Adderley, Jr., who at the time was an 11-year-old living in Teaneck, New Jersey.
This album ultimately led to the consecration of the Dominican Alfonso Vasquez 'Pochi' and the group 'Cocoband', which established his style on the interpretation of modern Latin rhythms, mix of Caribbean, Cuban and Afro-Antillean music. In the repertoire of 12 songs, mostly produced and created by Pochi, include live merengue rhythms, bachatas and a salsa that succeeded not only in USA but in Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela. Fresh and lively Latin music to enjoy … but with coconut!.
