William Schuman juggled many careers in his full and productive life: teacher, administrator, conductor and composer of ten symphonies and a significant representation of music in many genres. Dating from 1960 and 1976 respectively, Schuman’s Seventh and Tenth Symphonies were commissioned for and inspired by two anniversaries, the 75th season of the Boston Symphony and the bicentennial celebration of the United States. Given the composer’s long connection with the city of Boston and his important work in creating an American symphonic “sound”, these symphonies are emblematic of Schuman’s musical roots.

Esoteric Recordings announce the release of a newly remastered and expanded edition of this acclaimed album by Pierre Moerlen's Gong. By the late 1970s Percussionist Pierre Moerlen had taken over the leadership of GONG and had steered the band away from Psychedelic Space Rock and took the band into a Jazz Rock direction, one in which the band excelled. After recording several albumswith VIRGIN, Moerlen signed with Arista Records in 1978.

It's fun to hear the crisp, clean, classic production of the '80s paired with headphone-shattering 21st century compression, especially on legitimate scene stealers like "Defaced Mortality," "Depiction of Demise," "Catastrophe," and "Suffering Entities," the latter two of which provide a deafening one-two punch that sets the pace for what’s to come…

Necromass was born in 1992 and shined as a sinister, infernal star. The first demo “Connected Body Pentagram” (1992) was out the same year; it has been reprinted several times and distributed in thousands of copies. The following year they released their first 7’’ EP, “His Eyes” (Carnefician Prod., 1993), a raw and wild black metal work, containing, among other things, the first version of “Sodomatic Orgy of Hate” (later re-recorded for the first album “Mysteria”). The band had its official live comeback at Rock Hard Festival in Milan on September the 17th 2011 and announced the new album “Calix. Utero. Babalon.” to be released on June the 30th, 2013. Recorded at Nadir Music Studios and produced by Funeral Industries, it represents the official comeback for the black metal cult band, 17 years after the last full lenght “Abyss Calls Life” (1996). An evocative portrait of Tilla Durieux as Circe, made by German symbolist painter Franz von Stuck in 1913, has been chosen as album cover. In the meantime, the band is planning next gigs to present their new evil compositions and to kick asses in the International scene.

Alien is one of Sweden's biggest rock bands. Successes by Track One Only One Woman followed by gold and platinum awards, sold-out tours and massive media exposure in Sweden and abroad. 25 years later the Swedish rock is still very much alive with bands like In Flames, Europe and HEAT that draws attention both at home and internationally. Alien is the unification of the original set, working with new music and preparing for upcoming shows. That the genre so influential debut album is still classed by AOR fans worldwide as one of the very best ever. "We have been told that it is considered an AOR classic, something obviously we are extremely proud," said the band. On the occasion of the Jubilee releasar EMI a completely new version of the album that includes both the Swedish and the American mix. The album has remastrats and supplemented with previously unreleased bonus tracks .

Richard & Linda Thompson's marriage was crumbling as they were recording Shoot Out the Lights in 1982, and many critics have read the album as a chronicle of the couple's divorce. In truth, most of the album's songs had been written two years earlier (when the Thompsons were getting along fine) for an abandoned project produced by Gerry Rafferty, and tales of busted relationships and domestic discord were always prominent in their songbook…

Lee Ji-eun (born May 16, 1993), better known by her stage name IU, is a South Korean singer and actress. Her stage name is derived from the phrase "I and You", symbolizing that we can become one through music. Her fan club name is U-ana (Uaena), where each syllable has a different meaning: "you" is from English, "ae" is Sino-Korean for "love", and "na" is Korean for "me". In 2012, IU ranked #19 on "The 23rd Annual Independent Critics List of the 100 Most Beautiful Faces."

Those who fancy a slice of art rock with it's feet firmly placed in the early 70's should feel right at home with this effort. From the opening number and title track's Crimsonian touches on vintage symphonic space rock from the Eloy/Floydian school of compositions to the dramatic vocals Peter Hammil style, the references to the great acts of yesteryear are plentiful. First and foremost to Van der Graaf Generator it seems, but also to the artists already mentioned, while the guitar and flute solo instrumental piece in the middle of second track Prevail the Sea should feel familiar to fans of Jethro Tull…
