Following two demo releases, US Doom/Hard Rockers Beelzefuzz have released their debut and self titled studio album! Opening with a tone similar to that of the blaring horn of the alien menace in War of the Worlds, Beelzefuzz then begin their groove soaked cruise through a sonic riff fest, bass heavy rhythmic pounding and all of the psychedelic in between you’d expect from an album of this nature and all of this gleaned just from opening track “Reborn”. Indeed “Lotus Jam” has a harder hitting and more severe edge to the riff-age as well as a more of that classic Sabbath sound favoured by so many bands.

And that's not all the good news: this is truly one of those sonic "events" where the performers have an almost palpable presence, their sound is absolutely faithful and natural, and the balances are right on. Go ahead and turn this one up–you'll be immediately bathed in glorious, vibrant string sound, and be pleasantly surprised by the potential of Vivaldi's music to actually hold your undivided attention for an hour–maybe more.

Like many other British bands of the '90s, Supergrass' musical roots lie in the infectiously catchy punk-pop of the Buzzcocks and the Jam, as well as the post-punk pop of Madness and the traditional Brit-pop of the Kinks and Small Faces. Perhaps because of its age two of the trio were still in their teens when they recorded their debut single the band also brings in elements of decidedly unhip groups like Elton John, as well as classic rockers like David Bowie, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones.
