With her universal yet individual style Youn Sun Nah gives traditional vocal jazz a new flavour, while unconventionally and effortlessly exploring new exciting spaces. She is one of the most outstanding representatives of vocal jazz that includes the whole spectrum of contemporary music. Female singers who manage to stir a whole genre are seldom found. Diana Krall and Norah Jones are such outstanding talents who gave vocal jazz a whole new colour, and Korean singer Youn Sun Nah has been equally phenomenal. In the last few years she has conquered the music world with her albums “Voyage” (2009) and “Same Girl” (2010) released on ACT.

Illness, exhaustion and a national recording ban imposed by executives heading the American Federation of Musicians forced Stan Kenton to disband and withdraw from the music scene in December 1948. The hiatus lasted until February 1950, when he resumed making records for the Capitol label (see Classics 1185, Stan Kenton & His Orchestra 1950). Classics 1255, 1950-1951, which is the seventh volume in the Classics Kenton chronology, contains all of the recordings he made with his big band between May 18 1950 and March 20 1951. By and large, Kenton's music sounded better than ever during this period.

The American composer and trombonist Vince Benedetti, who lives in Switzerland since 1964, coincidentally in 1988, while singing in a bar in his adopted country, he discovered Diana Krall and immediately joined his band for a European tour. This album, in which five of the tracks are creation of Benedetti, was recorded in January 1990 and then he took Diana, making her debut in the world of recording at 26 years old when he was still a stranger.

He is considered the third most prominent singer of the American Billboard charts behind Barbra Streisand and Elton John.
