One of the early platinum albums of Edward Simoni. Wonderful music that showcases mainly the classical side of the german-polish virtuoso with tunes like Verdi's "Nabucco", Schubert's "Serenade", Liszt's "Liebestraum" and Tarrega's "Recuerdos de la Alhambra", but also includes some timeless melodies like "Bilitis" and "Don't cry for me Argentina". A small masterpiece with panflute backed by orchestra.

Outstanding ninth solo disc by this awesome blues/rock axeslinger from Iowa featuring 11 tracks of excellent, dynamic, deep, soul-powered, bluesy heavy guitar power trio rock that stands tall in a class all its own. Bryce Janey is a killer guitar slinger who unleashes a righteous, earthy, low-down, ass-kickin' set of hard, electric rockin' blues complete with seriously kool six string mojo, soulful whiskey soaked vocals & strong songs on the impressive, classic Burning Flame disc.

V.S.O.P. is a landmark album in the history of jazz, though not at all in the way it was intended. George Wein organized a Herbie Hancock retrospective concert at the 1977 Newport Jazz Festival in New York where three bands from Hancock's past and present – the 1965-1968 Miles Davis Quintet with Freddie Hubbard deputizing for the indisposed Miles, the 1969-1973 sextet, and Hancock's then-current jazz-funk outfit – would share the stage. As things turned out, it was the Miles band reunion that grabbed most of the attention, leading to several tours which in turn inspired a whole generation of young musicians (led by Wynton Marsalis) to turn their backs upon electronics and make bop-grounded acoustic jazz the lingua franca of jazz for the rest of the 20th century.

Coldplay's Atlas reached number 12 on the UK singles chart in September, while Sia's Elastic Heart and Christina Aguilera's We Remain have also been released as promotional singles from the soundtrack album. Sixteen-year-old New Zealander Lorde's contribution is a cover of British band Tears for Fears' 1985 hit Everybody Wants to Rule the World.

Where Your Road Leads is Trisha's seventh release on MCA-Nashville, and in my opinion one of her best. The album contains a majority of ballads, however there are some up-tempo songs as well, all easy on the ears. It's easy to see how she received the distinction of being the current Queen of Country Music.

Composer, arranger, and producer Hector Zazou released a string of relentlessly inventive albums between 1983 and 2008. On the last of these, IN THE HOUSE OF MIRRORS, Zazou collaborated with Swara, an Indian-Uzbeki group who re-envision the classical music of the Middle East and South Asia. As with Zazou's previous projects, consummate craftsmanship and postmodern production techniques are clearly evident, yet IN THE HOUSE OF MIRRORS is devoid of jarring juxtapositions or clever devices.

Bush's grunge-by-the-numbers is certainly well produced. Under the guidance of Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley – the kings of early-'80s British pop – Bush turn in an album that follows all the rules and sounds of American hard rock, specifically Nirvana and Pearl Jam. (…) As far as popcraftsmanship goes, it's actually quite impressive.

The Chicago-based ensemble's third outing is a dynamic and progressive undertaking, but poignant due to the passing of saxophone legend John Tchicai (Don Cherry, New York Art Quartet, Archie Shepp) who passed away on October 8th, 2012. He joined the unit, making a guest appearance, for this live set recorded on May 15th 2012 at Chicago's Hungry Brain venue.

A brilliantly entertaining tribute to the musical spirit of the divine Eartha Kitt as performed by René Marie, whose unique style incorporates elements of jazz, soul, blues and gospel. Her reputation as the most provocatively risk-taking of today's jazz divas makes her the perfect performer to deliver the first full-album tribute to Miss Kitt. 'I Wanna Be Evil' features both well-known and obscure gems of the Kitt repertoire including "C'est Si Bon", "Come On to My House", "Santa Baby" and more. "The voice is as stunning as always, her phrasing immaculate, her ability to pack emotional wallops equalled by very few."

The group's fourth album, appearing ten months following After Bathing at Baxter's, isn't the same kind of leap forward that Baxter's represented from Surrealistic Pillow. Indeed, in many ways, Crown of Creation is a more conservative album stylistically, opening with "Lather," a Grace Slick original that was one of the group's very last forays (and certainly their last prominent one) into a folk idiom. Much of what follows is a lot more based in electric rock, as well as steeped in elements of science fiction (specifically author John Wyndham's book The Chrysalids) in several places, but Crown of Creation was still deliberately more accessible musically than its predecessor, even as the playing became more bold and daring within more traditional song structures.

It even looks like something classic, beyond its time or place of origin even as it was a clear product of both – one of Peter Saville's earliest and best designs, a transcription of a signal showing a star going nova, on a black embossed sleeve. If that were all Unknown Pleasures was, it wouldn't be discussed so much, but the ten songs inside, quite simply, are stone-cold landmarks, the whole album a monument to passion, energy, and cathartic despair. The quantum leap from the earliest thrashy singles to Unknown Pleasures can be heard through every note, with Martin Hannett's deservedly famous production – emphasizing space in the most revelatory way since the dawn of dub – as much a hallmark as the music itself.
