Michel is a Christian Arab who lives in Israel. He's also a great guitarist and this is a very unusual and very appealing jazz/rock album that blends elements of Arabic modes, scales and instruments with hot fusion. After extensive studies in Nazareth and London (and quite a few awards later…), Sajrawy is today a furious guitarist, composer, producer and last but not least sound technician, whose musical ambitions are to reconcile the jazz of western culture with the "Makamat" of the Arabic Middle East and Schoenberg’s avant-garde.

Small World is the fifth album by American rock band Huey Lewis And The News. Although it reached the top 20 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, the album was much less successful than its predecessors, 1983's Sports and 1986's Fore!. However, Lewis himself stated in a Behind the Music interview that Small World was his favorite album he ever worked on.

Over the years, Brenda Boykin has developed a worldwide reputation as a leader in jazz and blues vocal interpretation. This is chiefly due to her 'jump up style', which she defines as being a combination of 'bourbon and cornbread'. Album opener "Feel Me" is almost funky house but with added jazz trumpet and percussive embellishments. Beyond this "Mambo Jambo" is a Latino workout, "This Maybe Game" visits the jazzy side of the swinging 60s, "Where Is It Written" explores a vintage Nina Simone sound and "Stone Mad" is an up-tempo bluesy mambo hybrid. Also included is a pumping house remix of "Pa-Pade Swing" by Koko Chanel.

Mixing '60s surf classics with contemporary retro efforts in the style isn't a great idea. It doesn't sink this surf compilation, though, because surf revivalists only occupy about a third of the disc; the rest include classics, or at least interesting obscurities, by the Bobby Fuller Four, the Lively Ones, Link Wray, the Centurions, the Sentinals, and others.

'60s British pop trio the Ivy League consisted of members John Carter, Ken Lewis (previous members of Carter-Lewis and the Southerners), and Perry Ford. All three members were session singers who possessed high-pitched singing voices, forming the group in 1964. Although an initial single quickly disappeared from sight, their second single, "Funny How Love Can Be," turned out to be a surprise U.K. Top Ten hit. Further hits followed, including…
