Quintessence first album presents an under-rated band which appears to be quite precursor in the Indo folk progressive genre for this 1969 year. There's a strong analogy with another progressive band: Sweet smoke. For the jazz and Indian influences, the predominance of flute, the same happy hippy spiritual mood and the excellent guitar work. Quintessence music is never complex but can be well progressive anyway, like on "Midnight mode", the gem here: excellent flute, a mind-blowing psychedelic space guitar solo and an impressive pure traditional (Indian) end.

German-born saxophonist Jürgen Hagenlocher's third album as a leader, Leap In The Dark, is an interestingly designed mix of traditional and modern-styled jazz—an interesting walk through a selection of eight sophisticated, airy and remarkably accessible original compositions. Recording in New York, Hagenlocher formed a new quintet for this album, retaining trumpet luminary Alex Sipiagin from his previous disc, and putting him alongside veteran pianist David Kikoski, bassist extraordinaire Boris Kozlov and drummer Nate Smith.

From the mid-fifties to his death in the early nineties, Miles Davis was universally recognised as one of the most innovative musicians working in Jazz. He was also one of the most popular with his albums regularly breaking into the pop charts and he picked up a total of eight Grammy Awards. He also launched the careers of many jazz musicians including Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Billy Cobham, John McLaughlin and many more. This concert, filmed in Munich in 1987, followed the release of his Grammy Award winning album Tutu and the set list features two tracks from that record, the title track and “Portia”, plus his unique arrangements of Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature” and Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time”.

This was the first of two albums with Ray and Billy. The second one came out in 1963 which also featured this duo in more melodies."Conniff Meets Butterfield" features some good uptempo tunes and some on the relaxed side. Enjoy!

Robin Holloway writes in his notes for this record that 'It seems both odd and foolish to take one of the acknowledged pinnacles of western music and 'recompose' it'. But his 'Goldberg adventure' (as he calls it) began with modest aims as a didactic piece. Frustrated as a single pianist by inability to clarify the close-weave canons or manage the more fiendish hand-crossing so idiomatic on a twomanual harpsichord, he began to transcribe a few for two pianos. Over the next few years he became absorbed with the task and ended …….

Singular work by three musicians involved in its creation: the multicultural pianist and Argentine-Spanish-Jewish-Palestinian Daniel Barenboim (Buenos Aires, 1942), the bandoneon player Rodolfo Mederos (Buenos Aires, 1940) and the bass Hector Console (Buenos Aires, 1939). A classical piano teacher who enters the land of tango, but has also composed works of this genre, with the help of which was partner and is currently the undisputed heir of Piazzolla's bandoneon and double bass also worked with Piazzolla in 1978. This trio is an example of good taste and universalization of instrumental tango. We are not in the traditional tango, but to its classical debugging. Music filled with nostalgia to recreate another vision of tango and to share their rhythms, melodies and eternal magic: the universal and classic tango.

Album dedicated to ballroom music, bringing together a total of 14 songs performed by the orchestra of the clarinetist and German bandleader Hugo Strasser (Munich, 1922). Music of his production, being usually repetitive as his annual releases of the series of discs 'Dance. Record of the Year', has particularly focused on dance music. The sound of his orchestra sets a standard in each rhythmic theme that, no abusing of percussion, is much appreciated for ballroom practice and teaching, areas where his music is highly valued. In this CD Strasser makes a tribute to the famous German composer Franz Grothe (Berlin, 1908-1982) performing some of his most beautiful melodies and dance rhythms in which the repertoire was distributed approximately equally in standard and in Latin dance styles.

Zappa in New York was recorded in December 1976 at the Palladium and originally intended for release in 1977. It was held up due to arguments between Frank Zappa and his then-record label, Warner Bros. When the two-LP set finally appeared in March 1978, Warner had deleted "Punky's Whips," a song about drummer Terry Bozzio's attraction to Punky Meadows of Angel. When Zappa reacquired the album and released it as a double CD in 1991, he restored "Punky's Whips" and added four bonus tracks.
