Album published in 1990 in England by the President Records label dedicated to music of ballroom dance performed by the Andy Ross Orchestra. The CD brings together a total of 19 tracks for dancing, a dozen of which correspond to the standard styles (quickstep, foxtrot, slow waltz or jive) against the six remaining Latin styles (rumba and bolero chachacha).

João Gilberto and Tom Jobim are parents of style 'Bossa nova', whose guitar and vocal technique deserves. João during his career has released over thirty recordings and special appearances with other artists. This CD is one of the latest study recordings published by the author, in this case directed and produced by Caetano Veloso. The album, which includes ten songs of famous authors such as Tom Jobim or the same Caetano Veloso, is a return of João to their early classics of bossa nova and a tribute to the music of his youth.

As an enduring work, Fillmore East: June 1971 is a mixed bag, but it does represent the peak of the Flo & Eddie edition of the Mothers. Most of the songs are essentially comedy routines set to music, often dealing with the life of a touring rock musician and, of course, the various opportunities for sexual adventure therein; in one scenario, Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan reprise their Turtles hit "Happy Together" in exchange for sexual favors.

Holding the estimable position of lead guitarist for John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Texas blues-rocker Buddy Whittington sports some impressive credentials. Nevertheless, his self-titled solo debut succeeds on its own terms. Whittington's own work owes more to fellow Longhorn fretmaster Stevie Ray Vaughan than to Mayall, and his piercing, tensile guitar licks and earthy, down-to-business vocal style give the album a unified feel while showing that this recording is more than just a busman's holiday.–by Jim Allen

Of all operas, perhaps the one that least needs ingenious extramusical assistance is ‚‘Tristan,‘‘ this aurally erotic work that speaks so vividly to the listener‘s inner eye. Wagner‘s score is simply more illustrative and sensuously pictorial than any series of stage pictures could be. Golo Berg’s sensuous conducting of the Dessau Philharmonic, continually presses that truth home. He leads the orchestra in a lithe and propulsive performance that showes unusual consideration for the wonderful voices of the singers. A sensational opera night at a small German opera company.
