Monte Pittman’s second solo album, is a sonic narrative that brings each listener into a world where they are each asked to confront their own fate, good or bad, and their eventual death – and rebirth. Enhanced by electric guitar, synths and piano, this album features spiraling and at times soaring guitar solos, frenzied guitar structures, harmonies and an infusion of 1970s Southern California sunny Americana rock, blaring 80s stadium rock and 90s alternative rock.

Three Palms for string quartet and soprano, op. 120 (1977): A poem by Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov (1814–1841) speaks of three palm trees in the Arabian desert. Weinberg used this text as the basis of his like-named work, scored for the unusual combination of soprano and string quartet. The character of this 20-minute work, conceived in 1977, comes from its mixture of chamber music, song cycle and cantata……..

A reissue of the 48 Herbie Nichols recordings formerly out on the limited-edition five-LP Mosaic box set, this three-CD package from 1997 has the pianist/composer's greatest work. Nichols was largely neglected during his lifetime; only in the late '90s did the highly original musician start receiving some of the recognition he deserved. Although his originals were often quite orchestral in nature, Nichols only had the opportunity to record in a trio format; the five sessions on this box (30 songs plus 18 alternate takes) feature either Al McKibbon or Teddy Kotick on bass and Art Blakey or Max Roach on drums.

After 18 years and 6 releases that place the band at the top of the Extreme Metal genre, Norway’s masters CREST OF DARKNESS have come back with their most mature and intense release so far.
