Hungarian extreme metallers EKTOMORF release their new album, "Retribution" via AFM Records. The follow-up to 2012's "Black Flag" is described in a press release as a "first-class fist-in-your-face album, displaying heavy grooves and sheer power in the best of ways. Refining and bringing things to perfection was the goal, and this has been achieved impressively."On the song "Numb And Sick", EKTOMORF welcomes ILL NINO vocalist Cristian Machado as a guest, and his duet with Zoltán "Zoli" Farkas gives another new flavor to a record that clearly points out that EKTOMORF, even 20 years after its foundation in 1993, is still a raging, energetic force with the intensity of a bulldozer.

The Gimmies is a Japanese Garage Punk Rock band created by guitarist Sora in 1997. Described by one reviewer as "a band that wants to beat every song to a pulp with an unmitigated fury". What The Gimmies' Punk-Rock sound may lack in variation is more than made up in ferocious energy. In 2002, they released their debut album 'Auto Shut-Off….Any Questions?' on Japanese label Star Jets. "The screaming guitars tap into the Detroit sounds of The Stooges and the MC5", wrote an impressed reviewer… The Gimmies currently have 2 singles, 3 full albums, and inclusion on multiple compilations to their credit. They are primal rock personified – a garage band that kicks ass and doesn't take names.

Using the magic of overdubbing and a complement of star studio musicians, Tom Evans and Joey Molland take a respectable shot at recreating the three-part harmonies and pop sheen of the early-'70s Badfinger. "I Want to Get Back," Evans sings on the title track, and you would, too, if you had been reduced to manual labor after hobnobbing with the Beatles. Like early Badfinger, much of this evokes their old mentors, especially "Love Is Gonna Come At Last" (number 69), their first singles chart hit in seven years. Often, however, the material is only pedestrian, and although this album actually did a little better commercially than the group's two Warner Bros. albums of 1974, it didn't make for a real comeback.
