Jazz Masters Deluxe Collection by Gerry Mulligan was released October 2, 2012 on the Entertainment Supplies label, and contains a single disc with 15 great selection tracks. A great compilation of this giant of jazz.

Sinatra fans will know that 1953 was a watershed year for his recordings, when he signed with Capitol records. Teamed with the arranger Nelson Riddle and encouraged to sing in a lower register, Frank recorded superlative versions of many of the classic American Songbook entries which have not been bettered to this day. 64 of the tracks in the box set come from this era, and are pretty much all outstanding (although there are some glaring omissions like "All The Way" and "Chicago"). The remainder range from so-so to surprisingly good, covering the period 1946 to 1952, so in terms of content this box set can be recommended.

Wake Up to the Real World is the eleventh album of the Danish hard rock and heavy metal band Pretty Maids and released in 2006. Danish rockers Pretty Maids have re-grouped after a 4 year break and returned with a fresh, updated sound that could see them pick up some new fans.

Dvorák's popular Piano Quartet No. 2 in E flat major, Op. 87, and Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81, have received numerous performances by Czech ensembles, as well as plenty of foreigners who have attained fluency in the received Czech style (or not). This fine release by Britain's Schubert Ensemble takes the step of defining a non-Czech way of playing Dvorák, with fresh and persuasive results. The players are circumspect and precise in the classic British style, but what they do is bold: they reduce the emphasis on the Czech rhythms in the music, turning them into accents rather than structural determinants.

Each sound and every instrument is alive and visible in the recording. This may be Randy Travis' second gospel album in three years, but that doesn't make it redundant. Travis, like George Jones, Merle Haggard, and George Strait, could sing the back of a can of peas and make it sound inspired. When the material he takes on is the absolute core of country gospel and public domain spirituals, the result is nothing less than soul-stirring, powerful, honest, and truly beautiful.
