Hugh Masekela has an extensive jazz background and credentials, but has enjoyed major success as one of the earliest leaders in the world fusion mode. Masekela's vibrant trumpet and flugelhorn solos have been featured in pop, R&B, disco, Afro-pop, and jazz contexts. He's had American and international hits, worked with bands around the world, and played with African, African-American, European, and various American musicians during a stellar career. His style, especially on flugelhorn, is a charismatic blend of striking upper-register lines, half-valve effects, and repetitive figures and phrases, with some note bending, slurs, and tonal colors.
Live at Slane Castle is a Red Hot Chili Peppers concert video released in 2003, two years after the release of their last concert DVD, Off the Map. The concert taped was their second show at Slane Castle in Ireland, the Foo Fighters also played as the opening act, and have their own DVD footage of the concert. It was filmed on August 23, 2003 and the DVD was released on November 17, 2003.
Recorded at Claustrophobic Studio, USA engineered by Dennis Ferrer and Tetsu Inoue. The CD self-description says "deep trance ambient experience". The beats are often fairly fast (135-145 bpm), but they're not as "driving" as more modern Goa trance … and the songs tend to be much more melody- and effects-based than beat- based. Several of the tracks are danceable, but all tend to favor more-relaxed listening. All tracks were produced by Tetsu Inoue, but track 7 include Dennis Ferrer, and Biodream is listed on tracks 3 and 7.
Album released by American instrumentalist and band leader William Correa (New York, 1934-1983), aka 'Willie Bobo'. He was one of the greatest drummers of his time (the 50's to 70), especially with congas and timbales, plus a radiant singer and showman on stage. Worked, collaborated or recorded with artists such as George Shearing, Cal Tjader, Herbie Mann, Mongo Santamaria, Pérez Prado, Tito Puente, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderley, Herbie Hancock, Wes Montgomery, etc. Willie left a unique legacy as a teacher of percussion (bongo, conga, timbale and drum), was able to fuse jazz and Latin music with R & B and made forays into pop.
