Mahavishnu is an album by the Mahavishnu Orchestra, released in 1984 by Warner Bros. Records. During the 1980s, John McLaughlin reformed the Mahavishnu Orchestra for release of the two albums Mahavishnu and Adventures in Radioland. This band's overall sound was radically different from the original Mahavishnu Orchestra, in particular because of McLaughlin's extensive use of the Synclavier synthesiser system.
Solitude Productions proudly presents the third long-awaited album of Doom:VS, a Johan Ericson’s band, a permanent member and a guitarist of a famous Swedish band Draconian! This new dark masterpiece by Doom:VS includes the best elements of the traditional band sound: outstanding melodies, gloomy atmosphere of sorrow and despair, depressive lyrics and, needless to say, highest quality of sound and performance. As always, Johan Ericson performed all instruments parties and clean vocals, while growl parties were performed by a special guest, Thomas A.G. Jensen, the vocalist of Saturnus who brought additional atmosphere and notes of desperation to the «Earthless» with his charismatic vocal.
Meant as a tribute to Ben Webster, Jacintha's album nonetheless expresses her Billie Holliday Influence as well. A well known singer and stage talent in the Singapore entertainment scene, Jacintha (in the tradition of one name jazz luminaries such as the Duke, Django and Ella) now pays her dues to the music she grew up listening to. This disc has been all the rage among jazz aficionados and audiophiles everywhere since its release, garnering endless positive reviews.
This excellent set of Bruckner choral works has been transferred from a long out-of-print LP to CD. Producer, David Aldeborgh recorded these works in Jerusalem in 1984 and the LP has long been out-of-print. He has now given permission for the recordings to be transferred to CD in order that they can be enjoyed again. Several of the works received their world premiere recordings with this release.
This new release of Rachmaninov’s All-Night Vigil follows several acclaimed releases from the Latvian Radio Choir under its Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sigvards Kļava. Rachmaninov’s Liturgy of St John Chrysostom (ODE11515) and the All-Night Vigil are two supreme examples of choral writing in the Russian Orthodox tradition, featuring music of uplifting spiritual strength.
Grammy® Award-winner Gloria Cheng brings an exquisite array of touch to this programme which couples the first mature works of Olivier Messiaen with the darkly radiant music of Kaija Saariaho. The Calder Quartet joins Ms. Cheng for Saariaho's 2003 trio 'Je sens un deuxième coeur' and Messiaen's 'Pièce pour piano et quatuor à cordes'. Saariaho attended this first recording of her ‘Ballade’ and ‘Prelude’.
In 1972, the double album "Zeit" came out, and this can be said to be Tangerine Dream's longest step away from the rock-orientated music.
15 years later, in 1987, "Zeit" was released on CD for the first time. While the UK release had a total different cover design, originating from the boxed set "In The Beginning" and music material, shortened by about two minutes to fit on the CD, the USA release featured the reworked original cover artwork and the complete music material on two CDs.
The sound of the two releases is also strikingly different, the original Relativity release having a much brighter and more detailed sound and is slightly longer by a few seconds, mainly because of longer inter-track gaps.
The double CD set has a light blue border on the front and back covers.
SLADE-WALL OF HITS: No seventies band banged the glam drummer louder than SLADE, a massively popular English foursome that barely made a dent on American charts in their hey-day…
