At first glance the two works featured on this compilation have little in common-and on second and third glance too! The only common factor is the conductor and orchestra, and that in truth is the raison d'être for this compilation-an opportunity to hear the quality of this wonderful partnership whose output available in the West was and is minimal.
If you ask the most knowledgeable collectors to name the most prominent German Conductors in the immediate post war period, very few if any will mention Rolf Kleinert, and yet he was a major figure in cultural life particularly in Berlin.

The latest volume of Christopher Herrick’s acclaimed series of Buxtehude’s complete organ works comes from Paris and the admired organ of St-Louis-en-l’Île – formally opened in 2005, and based on the work of Zacharias Hildebrant (1688-1757). As with previous discs, it includes a selection of the composer’s praeludia, ostinato works, canzonettas and canzonas, interspersed with chorale preludes, chorale fantasias and variations.

Two works completed before the composer turned 23. Schumann asserted: "he is the Mozart of the 19th century, he is the brightest composer of the age, and he comprehends, with finest humour, the contradictions of our time more clearly than anyone, so that he is the first to reconcile them".

No Smoke Without Fire is the ninth studio album by rock band Wishbone Ash. It is the first album since 1972's Argus to be produced by Derek Lawrence. It is also the heaviest Wishbone Ash album in years, featuring rockers like the hit single "You See Red" and the multi-part progressive rock epic "The Way of the World."

The Emperor Quartet was established a decade ago by Martin Burgess, violin; Clare Hayes, violin; Fiona Bonds, viola and William Schofield, cello. They were first British group to win the Evian/Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition where they were also awarded the Mozart and Contemporary Prizes. In their 10th anniversary year the Quartet were nominated for a Grammy award for their recording of Walton String Quartets.

The debut recording from a young Russian pianist who wowed the public and critics with his recent Prokofiev piano concerto cycle with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, he embarks upon a recital tour to Japan in January, playing repertoire that includes the complete Prokofiev piano sonatas. In May 2013 Denis Kozhukhin will perform Sonatas 6–8 at the South Bank Centre’s The Rest is Noise festival. He won the coveted first prize at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium in 2010 and is now in demand with many leading orchestras.

"Rubycon" is an album released in 1975 by Tangerine Dream. It is widely regarded as one of their best albums. "Rubycon" further develops the Berlin School sequencer-based sound they ushered in with the title track from "Phaedra".
Although not quite matching the sales figures for "Phaedra", "Rubycon" did give the group their highest ever UK chart placing. This was widely stated to be No.12, in a 14-week run.

"Memorial Beach" is the fifth album by A-ha, released in 1993. The album was recorded primarily at Prince’s Paisley Park studios outside Minneapolis in the U.S.
Despite the commercial reception, Q magazine listed the album as one of the 50 best albums of 1993.
