On the peak of their career in the USA, 'Huey Lewis & The News' came to Germany for a gig at the music show Rockpalast in 1984. The blooded musicians from San Francisco did a terrific show playing the highlights of their first three albums: 'Huey Lewis & The News', 'Picture This' and 'Sports'.

This was the first album The Isley Brothers made after O'Kelly suffered a heart attack and died in 1986. It's both poignant and painful, because Ronnie demonstrates the vocal presence and soulful character that always made his ballads so vital. Angela Winbush, who later became Ronnie Isley's wife, served as background vocalist, co-composer, and producer.

The album was nominated in the USA for the "Best New Age Album 1992" Grammy and reached the Top Ten in Billboard New Age charts and the Top Twenty in Billboard Jazz charts.

I'm a bit taken aback that Haenssler should label excellent stereo from 1981 as a historical recording. Kondrashin died that year at the age of 67 - the day after his birthday, as it happens. His Mahler recordings took place with his own Moscow Phil., but the present orchestra of Southwest Radio in Baden-Baden and Freiburg was under Michael Gielen, an experienced and exciting Mahler conductor in his own right, so the chemistry must have been good - better, I suspect, than with any Soviet orchestra at the time. Mahler wasn't a regular part of the orchestral tradition there.
