For only the second time in her career, jazz pianist and vocalist Diana Krall deviates from her tried, true m.o. of covering easily identifiable jazz standards. On Glad Rag Doll she teams with producer T-Bone Burnett and his stable of studio aces. Here the two-time Grammy winner covers mostly vaudeville and jazz tunes written in the 1920s and '30s, some relatively obscure. Most of the music here is from her father's collection of 78-rpm records. Krall picked 35 tunes from that music library and gave sheet music to Burnett.

Arrangements are fully implemented by the orchestra Twilight, dedicating the general repertoire to internationally well-known issues. Fantastic, Brit influenced US psych-prog classic full of great ideas; impressive songwriting and beautiful, atmospheric and sometime really heavy songs. The vocals are very fine and the instrumental work is really breathtaking (including fuzz-laden guitar leads and nice flute parts) sometimes similar to The Moody Blues (at their best), Strawberry Alarm Clock, early Renaissance and Andwella's Dream. The sound of the original source was very carefully remastered and will satisfy even the most demanded listener!

…This disc is equally appropriate for the chant specialist and for someone who wants as little as a single disc to fill an empty space in his collection.

It's fantastic, underground progressive heavy rock classic with definitive 'British' feel - very similar to the 2nd Tamam Shud LP, Leaf Hound, early Uriah Heep and even Allman Brothers Band debut LP. The tracks are mostly very long, guitar parts are intensive and loud, vocals are fine and additional flute parts really charming! The sound was restored very carefully (with no tacky equalization and compression) and now is very bright and clear!

Underground, heavy-psych rock Texas classic with impressive, tight sound and some rural and progressive leanings. Album is full of complex songs, great dual guitar work, fine vocals and busy drumming - with some tasty, mellotron sounds. Homer LP was originally released in 1970 on tiny label and today in near mint condition is worth over 800 dollars! This remastered issue was prepared with great care from the original source (in opposite to the previous, compressed and tacky editions) and sounds really great!
