Formed in 2006, TROGLODYTE draws musical influences from the likes of CARCASS, OBITUARY and ORIGIN also finding inspiration from 70's drive-in horror fare such as THE LEGEND OF BOGGY CREEK, THE PIT and NIGHT OF THE DEMON. The band has craved/slashed out it's own niche as the world's first (and only) Bigfoot death-metal band.

Being a progressive rock band, you certainly must have qualities to perform on well-known festivals as NEARfest, Burg Herzberg or Symforce. The Belgium band Quantum Fantay (QF) performed on all those festivals and indeed, they do have quality. The band already proved that on two previously released studio albums and a live double CD. You can describe the music of QF as a mixture of prog and space rock. The music resembles bands as Hawkwind, Ozric Tentacles, Tangerine Dream and Steve Hillage.

Two years after “Red Silent Tides”, Italian folk power metal cult act ELVENKING return with their new studio album “Era”. “This is indeed a bright new ERA and we managed to start it just by looking at our past career and by reconnecting with our deepest roots…” states the band. And rightfully so: “Era” includes just everything the ELVENKING fan will love. The stylistic spectrum covers songs going from high speed folk metal to melodic and romantic ballads, from crushing metal and melancholic mid tempo tracks to acoustic folk tunes.

Humperdinck (1854-1921) was travelling around Italy and met Wagner at Naples in 1880. …Overall, I find this a must-have and a stunning interpretation regardless of whether it's an SACD or not. Lovers of this piece should not hesitate to get this. The SACD has 27 tracks and is about 55 min long. The interpretation is exciting, flexible, and lithe, and that's all anyone could ask for in a Prokofiev piece as great as this. That I'm inspired to watch the movie again is a testament to the performance and the movie because, to me, it's so hard to separate the two.

This Super Audio compact disc from the independent German label Musikproduktion Dabringhaus und Grimm label (MDG) features the prolific Trio Parnassus in their thirtieth release for the label. Augmented by violist Hariolf Schlichtig, Parnassus perform not only Robert Schumann’s renowned Piano Quartet in E flat major, Op. 47 from 1842, but also his youthful C minor Piano Quartet, a hidden gem composed thirteen years earlier. That Arensky is one of the most influential figures in the promotion of two-piano music cannot be doubted. In addition to his four Suites for two pianos he also composed two sets of pieces for piano duet, later arranging one of them, his Children’s Suite of eight canons, Op 65, also for two pianos. Like all the best examples of two-piano music, Arensky’s Suites make no compromises on the technical demands made of the performers, and balancing Arensky’s gossamer-like embellishments and elaborations can sometimes seem an almost impossible task in itself.

If any admirers of the great German late-modernist composer Hans Werner Henze missed the performances on these two discs when they were first released in 1992 and 1997, they should by all means try this EMI set. The first disc features Simon Rattle and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra performing Henze's magnificently tragic Barcarola and his dramatic Symphony No. 7.
