Increasing his forces to a nonet, Wilson has created an album of interesting arrangements and many beautiful sounds, blending the brass and reeds expertly. The beginning of the record sounds like standard fare, starting with a straightforward mid-tempo Duke Pearson tune, "Make It Good," which leads to two slow ballads, "I And Thou" and Jimmy Rowles' "Looking Back," which features a guest vocal by Diana Krall. Wilson also seems to hold back on his guitar playing.

Surely, the band who recorded a track that influences Black Sabbath to cover and release it as their first single had to have been doing right! lt was very catchy but also hypnotic Evil Woman (Don't Play Your Games With Me) which made the US Billboard Top 20 and then opened the band's first album, released in autumn 1969. It may be hard to believe, but this is the CD debut of this great, but underrated title! Crow had a truly unique sound characterized by quite aggressive electric guitar and Hammond organ parts, combined with a distinctive blues and even soul elements (like horn section on three tracks). Sometimes their music resembled the early Steppenwolf and Vanilla Fudge - which certainly was not bad. This CD edition has been carefully remastered from the original, analogue source.

This is the CD debut of superb, but still relatively unknown, hard-psychedelic LP based on moody, but intense guitars, distinguish organ/piano parts & complex vocal harmonies. Released by United Artists in early 1970, the only record of this US band showed the influences from The Beatles, The Moody Blues and Neil Young, but mainly from great, but underrated Damnation Of Adam Blessing - from which the two members provided some guitar work to the album. Wild Butter have offered a varied, imaginative and beautifully-arranged songs (with progressive attitude) and should appeal to fans of creative, melodic and sometimes quite heavy rock. Pure Desmond has been founded to celebrate the sonic sensations of the Paul Desmond Quartet of the 1960's featuring Jim Hall on guitar. During the ten years of regular performances we have created an own understanding of parameters like atmosphere, dynamics, groove and tension, that led to ideas for original compositions which could inherit the qualities and structures of these sounds we love so much.

Released in March 1971 (by independent Silence label) the Fläsket Brinner's debut is considered as one of the very best Swedish records of early 70's progressive era. A large part of the album was recorded live in concert (in December 1970 - when the band opened for The Mothers Of Invention), while some shorter tracks were done live in studio. This completely instrumental record was dominated by long, hypnotic jams full of raw guitars, very fluid saxophone/flute parts and tasty Hammond sounds - backed by solid and very busy rhythm section. The music was shifted very easily from folk or jazz to heavy progressive - with Zappa's complexity, King Crimson's eclecticism and Deep Purple-like intensity. This first ever CD edition has been carefully remastered from original, analogue source.

lt's hard to believe that "Whiskey Woman" LP was never released on CD! This excellent debut album by the American band was issued in early 1972 on RCA Victor label and is best described as blues-based, very energetic hard-rock inspired by Led Zeppelin, Free & Humble Pie - with catchy, but heavy guitar riffs, solid rhythm section and great vocals. It's worth noting that all tracks were recorded completely live - with a small, invited audience. Unfortunately, the album went almost completely unnoticed, although the band got at least a chance to record their second (and equally good) vinyl. This CD was carefully remastered from the original, analogue source and will surely appeal to the most fans of raw and spontaneous heavy rock!
