    Progressive/Melodic Death Metal

Progressive metal act Persefone has inked a worldwide record deal with ViciSolum Productions. The new album “Spiritual Migration” is set for release in March 29. Spiritual Migration is Persefone’s 4th album and was mixed by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, Mercenary, Pestilence, Destruction etc.), at Hansen Studios in Denmark, and is a portrait of all the emotions the band has gone through within the first decade of their existence. Fine-tuning has never been a better word to describe the progression of a band, than in the case of Persefone.

Industrial/Death Metal (early), Groove/Industrial Metal (later)

Fear Factory is an American metal band that formed in 1989 Over the course of their career they have evolved from a succession of styles, frequenting industrial metal with flavors of death metal, groove metal, and thrash metal. Fear Factory proved to be enormously influential on the metal scene in the mid- to late-1990s. Fear Factory disbanded in March 2002 following some internal disputes, but reformed later that year without founding member Dino Cazares, adding bassist Byron Stroud, and casting then-bassist Christian Olde Wolbers as guitarist. In April 2009, a new lineup was announced with Cazares returning and Gene Hoglan as drummer. Bell and Stroud reprised their respective roles, and the band completed a seventh studio album entitled Mechanize. Former members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera (both playing in Arkaea) disputed the legitimacy of the new lineup, and a legal battle is underway from both parties. Fear Factory released their eighth studio album entitled The Industrialist in June 2012.Over the years, Fear Factory has seen changes in its members, with Burton C. Bell being the only consistent member since 1989.The band has performed at three Ozzfests as well as the inaugural Gigantour and has had singles in the US Mainstream Rock Top 40 and albums in the Billboard Top 40, 100, and 200. The band has sold more than 1 million albums in the US alone

This double LP in nice gatefold sleeve is Stardumb's 50th release and includes 28 songs by 14 Stardumb related bands, who each recorded a new song as well as a cover of a song Stardumb previously released. This results in some really nice and surprising covers, like the Peawees who make the Groovie Ghoulies sound like Bo Diddley and El Pino & The Volunteers covering soul-legend Nathaniel Mayer. Other bands on the record are The Apers, Accelerators, Manges, Sonic Dolls, Zatopeks, Stilettos, Kepi Ghoulie and more! A CD featuring all 28 songs from both LP's is included.

The roots of Electric lay in another album entirely, Peace, which was recorded with Love producer Steve Brown in a series of sessions that the band found increasingly pressure-filled and fraught with tension. A chance meeting with Def Jam supremo Rick Rubin at an American awards ceremony turned out to be the charm, resulting in the saucy chest-baring stomp of Electric. Rubin chucked all the old recordings for a series of new sessions, stripping everything down and essentially transforming Billy Duffy into the logical successor to AC/DC's Angus Young. Thankfully Ian Astbury decided not to become Brian Johnson, and while his macho yells can't help being cartoonish, he's clearly having fun throughout.

When David Bowie recorded what became DAVID LIVE at Philadelphia's Tower Theatre in July 1974, he had fully made the leap from Ziggy Stardust and landed feet-first into the shoes of the Thin White Duke. Despite announcing his retirement from live performance the year before, Bowie seemed no worse for wear fronting a ten-piece directed by future LETHAL WEAPON composer Michael Kamen and featuring new guitarist Earl Slick and horn player David Sanborn. This 2-CD set finds the chameleonic performer mixing in Ziggy-era classics such as "Rock 'N' Roll Suicide" with material from DIAMOND DOGS ("Rebel Rebel," "1984"), ALADDIN SANE ("Cracked Actor") and HUNKY DORY ("Changes"). The fullness of the horn section and the style of his back-up band give this set a soulful tilt powered by Slick's ballsy playing. This, along with a cover of the Stax nugget "Knock On Wood," pointed at Bowie's immersion in a Philly soul direction that emerged full-fledged on YOUNG AMERICANS.

Karl-Birger Blomdahl (1916-68), one of Sweden's greatest composers, is only now becoming better known–and mostly through these three symphonies. Taken together, these works, composed in the space of a decade, show Blomdahl's growth from a post-Romantic composer (Symphony 1, written in 1943) to a composer willing to take a few risks in tonality (Symphony 2, written in 1947)–and then some. His Symphony 3, written in 1950, leaps all the way into 12-tone techniques with his own dodecaphonic stylings …..
