Gismonti began his formal music studies at the age of six on piano. After studying classical music for 15 years, he went to Paris to study orchestration and analysis with Nadia Boulanger and the composer Jean Barraqué, a disciple of Schoenberg and Webern. After his return to Brazil, Gismonti began to explore other musical genres. He was attracted by Ravel's approach to orchestration and chord voicings, as well as by "choro", a Brazilian instrumental popular music featuring various types of guitars.

He was the rock legend whose songs - from "Imagine" to "Give Peace A Chance" - gave voice to a generation and whose shocking death reverberated around the world. The Mail on Sunday presents a unique John Lennon CD featuring 12 tracks representing his dynamic career.

Peste Noire is a black metal band from La Chaise-Dieu, France. It was formed by La sale Famine de Valfunde in Avignon in 2000. To date, all songs have been written by La sale Famine (except "La Césarienne" on Folkfuck Folie and various piano/organ interludes on Ballade cuntre lo Anemi francor). The band plays music which utilises standard black metal elements mixed with more traditional gallic instrumentation. The music is often melodic and sorrowful, turning at times towards a more aggressive and chaotic sound within lengthy and elaborate song structures. The band is sometimes referred to as P.N. or K.P.N (Kommando Peste Noire).

This is a vinyl EP on 10" to 33 1/3 rpm published in 1953 by Philips and performed by dance band musician, composer, arranger, singer and director Johannes Corduwener (Netherlands, 1911-1966), alias' Jan Corduwener'. He was a multi-talented instrumentalist, because besides the violin played the accordion, vibraphone, organ and guitar and sang very meritoriously. Corduwener began creating a quartet in 1946 and then his own 'Ballroom Orchestra' in 1951, incorporating instruments like piano, violin, sax, Hammond organ, guitar, bass and percussion.
