Jazz-iz Christ is Serj's brainchild, but truly is a collaborative effort between many musicians that Tankian curated to be part of the group and self-titled album. Among others, there are considerable contributions from renowned pianist Tigran Hamasyan, flautist Valeri Tolstov, and trumpet player Tom Duprey. Additional performances from Stewart Copeland and actor/musician David Alpay and Vincent Pedulla make for a very unique collaboration. The 15 tracks that comprise Jazz-iz Christ, a mostly instrumental effort except for 4 tracks, are an amalgam of progressive jazz, electronic, ethnic and even rock elements, displaying a unique presentation of the genre itself.

Recorded and mixed by producer Ian Blurton (Cauldron, Cursed) and mastered by Canadian recording legend Nick Blagona (Deep Purple, Rainbow, Crazy World of Arthur Brown), The Eldritch Dark is a full-length paean to the darker corners of folklore and legend. Containing eight tracks of black magic rock 'n' roll, the album crackles with the excitement of a nocturnal ritual.Tales of witch-cult gatherings in wooded glens, pacts made in torch-lit abbeys and Victorian magic are accompanied by vintage-style hard rock riffs, snaking bass lines and stirring flute melodies.The Eldritch Dark also sees the band exploring a more folkier side of their sound; most evident in the hymn-like Lord Summerisle and the murderous early Fairport Convention tinged folk-rock epic, Ballad of the Weird Sisters. 19th century sorcerer, Oliver Haddo, makes a return appearance in the riff-hypnotic album closer,The Magician.

Classic Jazz Archive compilation album by Count Basie, was released in 2004 on the Classic Jazz Archive label. This a 1990 reissue of prime Basie cuts.

Dal Shabet (stylized as Dal★Shabet) is a South Korean girl group created by E-Tribe through their label Happy Face Entertainment. The members include Serri, Ah Young, Jiyul, Woohee, GaEun and Subin. On March 15, 2011, 'Darling' was selected as Dal Shabet's fanclub name. The group won the Best Newcomer Artist award at the 26th Golden Disk Awards on January 11, 2012. On May 23, 2012, it was announced that Viki would be leaving the group, and was replaced by new member Woohee.

This is one hell of a performance of Shostakovich’s First Cello Concerto. Emmanuelle Bertrand and conductor Pascal Raphé team up to produce one of the most intense and neurotic versions yet of this intense and neurotic piece. In the outer movements, they adopt fleet tempos that emphasize the music’s twitchy edge, and the engineers daringly balance Bertrand a touch less forward then usual, comfortably within the ensemble. This highlights every mocking grunt and snort of the wind section – listen to the contrabassoon in the first movement’s second subject. It’s unforgettably vivid and to the point.

This is the tenth Skalkottas CD produced by Bis since 1997. Very often these have been performed by Greek musicians and recorded by Greek production teams. Half of these discs have been of his chamber music. Each has been recorded and performed to the highest possible standards. The music is incredibly clever, complex, life-enhancing, joyous, shocking and tough by turns……. Highly recommended.

The concertos by Vivaldi featured on this recording are all classifiable by genre as concerti a Quattro : that is, concertos for the standard string orchestra of the time but without the participation of a violin or other soloist. In fact, such concertos continued the tradition of the primitive concerto as conceived in northern Italy shortly before 1700 (see, for example, the concertos of Giuseppe Torelli’s Op. 5 [1692] and Op. 6 [1698]). Following the rise from c. 1710 of the solo concerto (for which Vivaldi was primarily responsible), concerti a Quattro became much less popular, especially since operatic overtures, which were normally scored for exactly the same forces, could be detached from their parent work and used as independent concert symphonies (sinfonie da camera ).

Moszkowski is one of the many 19th century Romantic composers whose works have goine almost unnoticed for decades. He definitely deserves better. Paderewski once said that he was the best composer for the piano, after Chopin.

“Money Never Sleeps” is the debut of the five man Swedish band Covered Call. Formed in 2006 by drummer Ronny Svanströmer and guitarist Joel Carlsson, who recruited bassist Thomas Thulin and second guitarist Morgan Rosenquist before finding Ex Candlemass and Therion vocalist Thomas Wikström to complete the lineup. At first listen “Money Never Sleeps” does not have any stand out tracks, but after a couple of listens you will find an album that is solid from beginning to end where the melody and hooks grab you and each song builds momentum for the next song.

Just like Diamond Head, Flotsam and Jetsam is a top notch band destined to forever play second fiddle to the media behemoths, Metallica. Diamond Head is sadly remembered as the band that Metallica covered, and Flotsam and Jetsam will forever be known as the band that Jason Newsted played in before joining Metallica after the death of previous bassist Cliff Burton…
