Not entirely satisfied with the original version of The Gospels (also released as The Word & the Gospels), Wakeman rewrote and re-recorded it, subtitling it "A Modern Oratorio." The pieces of the original have been rearranged to present the life of Jesus chronologically, and a new piece has been added: "The Cross," which Wakeman called "the best piece of music I have ever written" in his autobiography Say Yes!…

This CD reissues a rather unusual James Moody date. Best known for his tenor and alto playing (although he is also recognized as a talented flutist), Moody is here heard exclusively on soprano and flute. Trombonist Tom McIntosh contributed a tune and arranged all eight pieces (which also include four Moody originals). Five of the numbers feature Moody in a nonet, including an emotional "Old Folks" and an advanced reworking of Duke Ellington's "Main Step.

As all the previous albums “Aura” too was developed in true FAIR WARNING style: For the production of their albums the four musicians always choose unusual locations with a very special atmosphere.
