For the very first time, two dazzling superstars of Country & Jazz come together for special one-off performance. Filmed live at the Austin Opera House, Austin, Texas in 1985 for the Willie Nelson Special, this one off show captures the unique talents of Willie Nelson and Ray Charles as they respect and enjoy each others company on stage and the chemistry pays off with some stunning performances of some classic songs. Also featuring a special guest appearance from Jackie King on guitar.
This album, "Strange Day in Berlin" is a a transitional album that still shows some of the creative spirit of the early albums, while starting to move towards the less remarkable pop of the later albums. The best tunes on this are the title track, and the rather spacey-sounding anthem of romantic despair, "10 Million Light Years from Home", but there's nothing that can really compare to any of her earlier stuff…
Originally intended as a filler collection while we waited for a new George Harrison album to arrive, this turns out to be a massively great collection of rare Harrison tracks. It's the most listenable non-official CD of his solo material that I've ever had. A really nice compilation…
Acclaimed Norwegian Progsters LEPROUS are getting ready to release their new album "Coal" on May 20th, 2013 in Europe and May 28th, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic.LEPROUS singer / synth-player Einar Solberg comments about the song as follows: "We're delighted to finally be able to give you the first taste of our upcoming album "Coal"! "Coal" is a melancholic, soulful and very dynamic album. Where "Bilateral" was playful and "in-your face", "Coal" is subtle and floating. "Chronic" however, is of the more dynamic songs of the album. With a heavy basis, the song pinches a nerve Leprous has never before explored."
This is the fourth volume in Chandos’ series devoted to the music of the Polish composer Witold Lutosławski. Edward Gardner and the BBC Symphony Orchestra, described by Gramophone as a ‘veritable dream team’ in a review for Vol. 1, are joined on this recording by the cellist and exclusive Chandos artist Paul Watkins.
Following the success of two recent Rossini recordings, the sacred Stabat Mater and the opera William Tell, Antonio Pappano and his Orchestra e Coro dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia have taken on the composer’s late masterpiece, the Petite Messe solennelle. The soloists are Marina Rebeka, Sara Mingardo, Francesco Meli and Alex Esposito. Like the earlier-mentioned Rossini titles, the Petite Messe solennelle was recorded in the Orchestra’s acoustically fine home, the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome.

Known for his flawless and tasteful playing, Tommy Flanagan received long overdue recognition for his talents in the 1980s. He played clarinet when he was six and switched to piano five years later. Flanagan was an important part of the fertile Detroit jazz scene (other than 1951-1953 when he was in the Army) until he moved to New York in 1956. He was used for many recordings after his arrival during that era; cut sessions as a leader for New Jazz, Prestige, Savoy, and Moodsville; and worked regularly with Oscar Pettiford, J.J. Johnson (1956-1958), Harry "Sweets" Edison (1959-1960), and Coleman Hawkins (1961).
