The harmony-based trio and its sizeable fan base bonded heavily during the band s headlining Own The Night World Tour an over-sized road trip, if there ever was one. The shows themselves were inspirational. But so was the time offstage. Lady A made a point of experimenting and creating with its road band as the one-nighters and the miles of travel piled up. That behind-the-scenes interaction inspired much of the music on GOLDEN, an instantly infectious project in which Lady A discovered new edges for its already successful foundation.

The Philadelphia Orchestra was founded in 1900 by German musician and director Fritz Scheel. He has been succeeded to date by various prestigious directors, among which Leopold Stokowski, followed by the Hungarian Eugene Ormandy between 1936 and 1980, which was the longest directed. Ormandy conducted many of the most famous recordings of the orchestra, including this album offering a brief compilation of classic tracks dedicated to the waltz music.

Every time I listen to this cd, which is often, I get a serious case of envy of everyone at this Berlin concert–all 130,000 to 170,000 people. Wow. Another "must have" BJH album. Had I been there, I would have been dancing and singing along the whole time. The fabulous concert energy is preserved on the cd. It's clear the crowd was energizing the band who was in turn energizing the crowd. "Glastnost" highlights the spirited, hard-rocking, percussion side of BJH, without detracting from their dreamy intricate guitar work and vocal harmonies.
They open with "Poor Man's Moody Blues"-a clever song.

Since long before the present flowering of native talent, Scandinavia has been a very jazz-friendly place. Miles Davis borrowed a Swedish folk song and called it Dear Old Stockholm. Quincy Jones wrote one of his first compositions, Stockholm Sweetnin', there in the 1950s. Both are among the seven numbers on this delectable set by the great American tenor saxophonist and a trio led by Jan Lundgren. Hamilton is famous for the consistent excellence of his playing but this time, sparked by Lundgren's inspired piano solos and crystal-clear accompaniment, he really surpasses himself. There may be a few more potential jazz standards here, too. (Dave Gelly, Guardian)

It has been said that Antonio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim was the George Gershwin of Brazil, and there is a solid ring of truth in that, for both contributed large bodies of songs to the jazz repertoire, both expanded their reach into the concert hall, and both tend to symbolize their countries in the eyes of the rest of the world. With their gracefully urbane, sensuously aching melodies and harmonies, Jobim's songs gave jazz musicians in the 1960s a quiet, strikingly original alternative to their traditional Tin Pan Alley source.

While the first Emerald Rain album was a good slice of Harem Scarem-influenced hard rock, this second effort sees the band maturing and finding a sound of their own. The Harem Scarem influence is still quite strong, and there are traces of Dokken, Lillian Axe and even Metallica there, but the band has managed to filter them nicely into their own style.

    Symphonic Gothic / Black Metal

I've been following this gloomy Norwegian gothic death metal group fer many a year now, and their career isn't the simplest to sum up. Let's try shall we, since this'll be their lastest album. They've veered from their first two records of mournful epics uplifted by operatic vocals, to hate-fuelled, Dimmu-style melodic extremities with the next two, and recently to a more compact sound partway between Tristania and Penumbra…
