Sound of Contact’s debut album “Dimensionaut” is a concept album about a dimensional time and space traveler called “Dimo” who is on a mission to expand the boundaries of the human experience. The album features a wide range of styles and dynamics from dark and mysterious progressive rock to nostalgic classic rock to high energy alternative to sci-fi film score-infused “space rock”.

Until the arrival of the Sugarcubes, jazz fusion band Mezzoforte was Iceland’s best-known musical export. The group was formed in 1977 at a Reykjavik high school by Fridrik Karlsson (b. 24 April 1960; guitar), Eythor Gunnarsson (b. 9 September 1961; keyboards), Johann Asmundsson (b. 30 March 1961; bass), and Gunnlaugur Briem (b. 8 September 1962; drums). They signed a recording contract with local label Steinar, and with the assistance of Stefan S. Stefansson (saxophone) recorded their debut album. Bjorn Thorarensen (keyboards) joined in time for the recording of the band’s second long-player. Kristinn Svavarsson (saxophone) was featured on the exuberant ‘Garden Party’, which was a Top 20 hit in the UK in 1983.

Chucho Valdes, Cuba's most famous jazz musician, has rebalanced the repertoire of his Afro-Cuban Messengers on Border-Free, mixing its American-jazz agenda (the group's name deliberately references both Valdes' roots and the late Art Blakey's classic soul-bop Jazz Messengers group) with more extended Latin-American input, and some Native American and Andalusian connections, too. Saxophonist Branford Marsalis, guesting on three tracks, is warmly romantic on tenor on the loping Tabu, agile and fluent on the Cuban dance-shuffle Bebo, and mercurial on a soprano-sax break full of north African microtonalisms on the hurtling, horn-hooting finale, Abdel.

"Perplexed In The Extreme" is the third full-length release by Emerald Rain, including "You," "Open Up Your Eyes," and "Numb."Japanese version includes a bonus track.

1989 should have been a colossal year for Lizzy Borden. The L.A. band's last album, 1987's 'Visual Lies' was still buzzing in the underground and its "Me Against the World" single was a fixture on MTV's Headbanger's Ball. Flattop Tom & his Jump Cats, is a versatile, energetic group of talented musicians dedicated to keeping Blues and Swing alive. This eight-piece band plays Blues, West Coast Jump Blues, Big Band Swing, Jump Jive, Boogie Woogie, Rockabilly, and 40s & 50s Rhythm & Blues. The band has been in existence since 1992. Flattop Tom is also a professional swing dancer and prides himself in keeping tempos right for dancers, but they\'re fun to watch and listen to, as well…..
