This is the third album by Thorgeir Stubø released in 1984, and presents an interaction with the famous American guitarist Doug Raney, son of the legendary pioneer bopgitar, Jimmy Raney. Raney was at this time living in Denmark, and on this album Stubø made Doug Raney bring along the Danish top bassist Jesper Lungaard and drummer Ole Jacob Hansen. It was an elegant and perhaps more easily swinging quartet than the previous quintet from Jazz Alive…

The album, ‘Portrait’, consists of eleven original songs from Jeff, each skillfully blending his smooth as silk tenor and alto saxes and with his heartfelt melodies, lyrical compositions and soulful production. The music is punctuated throughout with elements of jazz, Latin and R&B.

John Wetton has had one of the most varied careers in progressive rock. He has played in the majority of the big names in prog, in many cases in their classic lineups. His first major band experience came when he joined Family in 1971. He was featured on two of their albums: 1971's Fearless and Bandstand (released the following year). He performed various functions in the group, but his primary role was as bassist. Previous to this group he had recorded with Edward's Hand and Mogul Thrash.

Typically, artists dispense with introductions after their debut – after all, that is an album designed to introduce them to the world – but neo-soul singer Joss Stone defiantly titled her third album Introducing Joss Stone, thereby dismissing her first two relatively acclaimed albums with one smooth stroke. She now claims that those records were made under record-label pressure – neatly contradicting the party line that her debut, The Soul Sessions, turned into a retro-soul project after Joss implored her label to ditch the Christina Aguilera-styled urban-pop she was pursuing – but now as a young adult of 19, she's free to pursue her muse in her own fashion.

Dub Trees is the first new material from seminal producer and musician Youth who has garnered a reputation as one of the most eclectic diverse and brilliant producers to emerge in recent years.
