When trumpeter Tom Browne hit the Billboard charts in 1980, one would have thought that he was an overnight sensation. However, the licensed pilot had several years under his belt working with Weldon Irvine, Sonny Fortune, and others. His debut smash single, "Funkin' for Jamaica (N.Y.)," took the music industry by storm. Between Browne's piercing horn intro and his chilling riffs in the vamp, the New York native and his cohorts lay down one jammin' groove. From the thunderous bass of Marcus Miller and Browne's trumpeting trips to the salacious vocals of Toni Smith and the colorful conversation referencing Browne, this single was slick and exhilarating.
Universal legacy that is being transferring through ages. Universal mind that binds the most different intelligent beings in the infinite space.
…Full of quality songs which can be seen as an acid trip, but occasionally feeling empty and stretched, the Surfers had many people freaked with this. Rembrandt Pussyhorse may be the lost child on the pile of early work genius dug up by the band, but it definitely holds its own even against Locust Abortion Technician and Hairway to Steven. It is recommended that this album be played in the dark, or with ear bleeding volume. Or if possible both.
Rare stuff from John Coltrane! The album features Trane playing tenor on only 4 of the album's 8 tracks – making it kind of surprising that they used his name in the title – but the album is a lesser-known batch of large group recordings that offer an interesting early chapter in his career! The main force behind the album is arranger Harry Tubbs – possibly not a name that's as sexy as John Coltrane, hence the billing – but a worthy leader for the date, given the quality of the music.

Born in 2007; Sweden's Anguish have been lying in the shadows preparing for their first deathly blow. A follow-up to their 2010 demo "Dawn of Doom," "Through the Archdemon's Head" is a 56-minute monolithic masterpiece that may leave some questioning the fact that this is their first full-length recording. Riff after crushing riff combine with tortured vocals to bring you what surely will be one of doom metal's finest releases of 2012.
And here we have another winner in BIS's magnificent series of the symphonies and piano concertos of Alexander Tcherepnin. The music is marvelous, and the performances very good. To start with the two purely orchestral works, the Symphonic Prayer and the Magna mater are stylistically similar yet imaginative and written in a rather personal idiom. Both are based on chorale harmonies, but the music is nevertheless overall full of energy. No, there are no immediately memorable themes here, but both works are of the kind where you immediately appreciate every move and magnificently wrought detail…….G.D @ Amazon.com
Of the 104 catalogued works of Joaquín Turina, just five are for violin and piano, Sonata española, 1908, Sonata No. 1 in D Op. 51, the Variaciones clásicas Op. 72, Sonata No. 2 in G Op. 82 and Homage to Navarre Op. 102, all recorded here by the violinist David Peralta Alegre with Ana Sánchez Donate at the piano. Although composed over a broad period of time, from 1908 to 1945, they are all dominated more than anything else by the savour of Andalusia and the essentially Spanish tradition, both characteristics which impregnated …………

Swedish sleaze rockers HARDCORE SUPERSTAR will release their new album, "C'mon Take On Me", in Europe on March 1, 2013 via Nuclear Blast Records.Commented HARDCORE SUPERSTAR drummer Magnus "Adde" Andreasson: "We came up with the idea [for the 'C'mon Take On Me' cover] during the recordings of the album. It's just so sexy when a woman jumps into a drum kit — what could be more exciting? We discussed the concept with photographer Micke Johansson, who loved the idea. What we especially like about it is the combination of sex and bruises!"
