Ahmad Jamal's minimalist style has served him well throughout his career, as he enjoys making frequent sudden detours in the midst of a performance, with his intuitive rhythm section able to adapt on the fly. His longtime bassist James Cammack and drummer Idris Muhammad are joined by Latin percussionist Manolo Badrena for these 2007 sessions.

Collecting B-sides from the Vienna to the Quartet era, Rare, Vol. 1 is a much better prospect than Vol 2. which comes from Ultravox's later, less interesting years. Here the band was still full of life and as many of the less formal tracks display, willing to experiment. The rickety "Keep Talking" is the strange sound of Ultravox jamming and if you've never been able to connect this cold band to member Midge Ure's earlier, more glam outfit the Rich Kids then you haven't heard their aggressive cover of Brian Eno's "King's Lead Hat" (and you really should).

It's those classic songs and the stories behind them that make Greg Lake's Songs Of A Lifetime so special. While the former Emerson, Lake & Palmer, King Crimson and one-time Asia vocalist and bassist penned his autobiography Lucky Man, "songs would crop up that were in some way crucial or extremely important in the development of my career," giving Lake the idea to go out and perform these tunes - both his own and ones that influenced him…

On his third offering for Warp, Brian Eno returns to ambient music once again. He displayed it on his label debut, 2010's Small Craft on a Milk Sea, but the various pieces on it were either rejects from The Lovely Bones soundtrack or developed with Leo Abrahams on the Everything That Happens Will Happen Today tour. The music on Lux is a single, 75-minute composition divided into four segments that are just over 18 minutes in length or under 20. They were composed to accompany an exhibit of Eno's visual art in Turin. While the music on Lux adheres to his ambient principle of making music that is "rewarding attention but not being so strict as to demand it," and there is an elemental drift in all four parts of this work, that's not all there is.

Lauge & Baba Gnohm has made a groovy, psychedelic, melodic and mysterious album packed in a modest pace, resulting in a great first full length album. It's the journey that's interesting not the goal and Lauge & Baba Gnohm has just begun their long walk toward their (supposedly) not yet known niche.

Originally formed in 2004 by Jarkko Lunnas and Kalle Niininen, the first self released EP "Darker World" was released in 2007. The somewhat tedious process of recording and mixing the Ep was entirely done by the two at the Damnation Plan rehearsal room in Lintuvaara, Espoo, Finland.The mixing and mastering duties of the album were carried out by Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale, Bloodbath) at the Unisound studio.The band's massive and uncompromised debut full length "The Wakening" is finally ready, and set to be released world wide on March 2013 via Coroner Records!
