Jazz Icons: Charles Mingus showcases three exceptional concerts performed in April 1964 featuring his most celebrated lineup–Jaki Byard (piano), Dannie Richmond (drums), Johnny Coles (trumpet), Clifford Jordan (tenor sax) and the great Eric Dolphy (alto sax, flute and bass clarinet). Recorded within an eight-day span, less than three months before Dolphy's death, the three concerts showcase Mingus's visionary leadership and the band's incredible depth and diversity with unique performances and arrangements of classics including "So Long Eric" and the groundbreaking "Meditations On Integration".

Sweeping and Bombastic Symphonic Metal Masterpiece. On their fourth album, the Austrian Symphonic Metal band dives deep into long forgotten centuries and draws the listeners attention to historical personalities like Henry VIII of England, Napoleon or Alexander the Great. Numerous concerts have matured the band's songwriting skills and the interaction between the individual musicans. This is the reason why "War of Ages" is filled with excellent and characteristic compositions and world-class refrains, for which the term "catchy" would be an understatement. The mixture of remarkable riffs, perfect timed variations from symphonic passages up to ballads, shows SERENITY's ability to write haunting songs. The band has reached their musical and lyrical height and in particular Georg Neuhauser impresses with his best vocal performance so far! The Tcherepnin dynasty comprises Nikolai (1873-1945) the father, Alexander (1899-1977), the son and Ivan (1943-1998) and Sergei (b.1941), the sons of Alexander. Alexander grew up amid an affluent and musical family. Their home welcomed the leading artistic lights of Russian society. The 1917 Revolution changed everything for the Tcherepnins and they emigrated to Tbilisi, Georgia. In 1921 they moved to Paris where Alexander’s circle included Martinů and Tansman. Alexander lived in China and Japan between 1934 and 1937. He married the concert pianist Lee Hsien Ming and spent the war years in Paris. Torture Killer never fails. The familiar ingredients are still there: morbid brutality and insane groove, yet added with some twisted hooks and versatile song structures hardly never heard before in TK songs. Though they still sound brutal mid-tempo death metal they way it should, not some (experi)mental bozo group lost in the deserts of alternative avantgarde land. Some songs feature Chris Barnes of Six Feet Under in guest vocals. The opening riff of the title track sweeps half of the metal world under a pile of reeking excrement!
