Album offering twelve items prepared and arranged by musician, arranger and composer John Keating (Scotland, 1927), leading his splendid big band, integrated this time by a total of 23 musicians under his baton (five trumpets, five saxophones, clarinet and flute even, four trombones, four horns and bass, piano, guitar, drum and conga). The recording session was held at Decca Studios in West Hampstead (London) in front of an invited audience, which provides the live environment. In the 60s swing music had a time of rebirth, despite the cost of maintaining great bands, and Keating wanted to revisit with this recording major playing styles of swing of the 40s.

The Spanish guitarist Narciso Yepes was the creator of the ten-string guitar, the only true concert guitar with chromatic resonance, similar to the piano with its sustain pedal. He was the first performer to record Bach's complete works for lute, of which two parts are included here. The repertoire of this album offers a varied assortment of selected topics of great Spanish composers alongside other great creations of world renowned composers.

Enslaved is a progressive black metal band formed in Haugesund, Norway, in June, 1991. They are currently based out of Bergen, Norway.Enslaved was formed in July 1991 by Ivar Bjørnson and Grutle Kjellson (also known as Kjetil Grutle) when they were 13 and 17 years old, respectively. The band name was inspired by an Immortal demo track, "Enslaved in Rot." After many line-up changes throughout their career, Bjørnson and Kjellson are the only remaining original members.

Fourth in the series of recordings by this Laswell-overseen project, Distill resembles Akasha in that rather than being a collaboration between the participating artists, each contributes a separate track. Like its predecessor, a two-disc affair, Distill otherwise doesn't draw a distinction between the two discs regarding rhythm and ambience - the results are presented for general appreciation, straight up. As a collection of highly regarded names exploring the possibilities of dark ambient music, which more than a few nods to the supposed isolationist scene of the mid-'90s, Distill fulfills its brief well and then some…
