Mieczyslaw Weinberg was an extremely subtle and delicate composer: the music breathes a warmth that is seldom found in contemporary classical music. Yet upon hearing Weinberg's works one is startled by their intrinsic power. The composer was a very modest person, and because of this he has remained unknown and in the shadow of others, even though his music is no less great.

Compilation album with some of the most important recordings in career of film actress Norma Jean Mortenson (California, 1926-1962), aka 'Marilyn Monroe'. Certainly his work as a singer was not her main artistic side, but the fact that in many of her movies interpret songs added value to her artistic projection. The repertoire features eighteen melodies presented in films with the last track, containing only the famous greeting of Marilyb to President Kennedy on his birthday party.

Album by French accordionist, arranger and director Joseph Basile (Somain, 1926-1982), another of the important accordionists who has given the French school. It was not until the 50s when Basile launched his career by traveling to America to accompany the French singer Patachou. He recorded over 30 albums and sold over 4 million copies. He also co-founded the French Academy Accordion and was teacher there. This CD released in 2005 is a reissue of the original released in 1961 and it is exclusively dedicated to Brazilian music.

Horizon Ablaze from Kristiansand is a relatively new band to me, even though they got started back in 2008. The band consists of members and ex-members from bands such as 1349, Den Saakaldte, Blood Red Throne, Pantheon I and Absu, among others. Up until now they have released one ep and one full-length, and they are now ready with a new full-length, titled “Dødsverk”, which will be out on Code666 at the end of the month.“Dødsverk” is a very varied album that contains inspiration from many different styles within extreme metal. Styles such as black, death and thrash metal just to mention a few, but the list just goes on and on so I guess the best description here is that this is pure extreme metal.
