The French born Coq has been an important name in the world of jazz in both Europe and the United States for nearly two decades. His work has traversed the realm of the tradition yet continues to push boundaries. His latest recording – Dialogue highlights Coq’s unique disposition as he echoes sonorities from jazz’s past while showcasing future talents and creating a unique blend of jazz and West Indian musical styles. Coq has long been fascinated by the possibility and the challenges of performing piano alongside guitar, but the similarities in range, sound, and chording create numerous challenges. The legendary duos of pianist Bill Evans and guitarist Jim Hall are perfect examples of the beauty that can be achieved and stand as the standard as to what can be accomplished.

Sándor Veress (1 February 1907 - 4 March 1992) was a Swiss composer of Hungarian origin. He was born in Kolozsvár/Klausenburg, then Austria-Hungary, later Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and died in Bern. The first half of his life was spent in Hungary; the second, from 1949 until his death, in Switzerland, of which he became a citizen in the last months of his life.

Areknames are a new Italian band that will bring you straight back into the magical 70's. Strongly influenced by both Van Der Graaf Generator and the Canterbury scene, they are nevertheless free of any clichés and successfully manage to mix those influences with their own very personal style. They are masterminded by composer, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Michele Epifani who handles the Hammond organ, piano, mellotron, synths, harpsichord, acoustic and electric guitars as well as the recorder. Bassist Piero Ranalli and drummer Mino Vitelli, who plays various ethnic percussions (djembé, Arabian tabla and spring drum) complete the roster…

Steve Overland is well-known as the lead singer of the legendary AOR band of FM. With his main band Overland, he released some really great albums in the past such as "Aphrodisiac", "Tough It Out" and "Takin' It To The Streets" to name a few. The band has, also, released last year the amazing "Rockville I & II".So, nowadays, this so talented artist is back with his brand new solo album which is entitled "Epic". For this new opus, Overland collaborates with some of the biggest names of the AOR world scene such as Christian Wolff (Rob Moratti) on guitars & keyboards, Larry Antonino on bass and Jay Schellen on drums (both from Unruly Child), Mike Slamer (handling additional guitars, bass, keyboards, production and arrangement), Billy Greer (Kansas, Seventh Key), Billy Trudel (The City, Dirty White Boy) and Fredrik Bergh (Street Talk, Bloodbound) and the result is just pure melodic heaven!!

Gustav Leonhardt began recording Bach's secular cantatas on Philips in 1990 after completing the sacred cantatas cycle with Harnoncourt. Those Philips discs were well received but are now hard to find, either on CD or as downloads, so I was thrilled to discover that Leonhardt, now 80, just recorded another pair of Bach's secular cantatas.
