At the time that Sabroso was recorded, Mongo Santamaria's group was essentially a charanga band with two trumpets added, a combination that works quite well. The group has superior playing by Jose "Chombo" Silva on both violin and tenor (helping "Para Ti" to become a classic), two little-known but talented trumpeters (Louis Valizan and Marcus Cabuto), the great flutist Rolando Lozano, pianist Rene Hernandez, bassist Victor Venegas, and Willie Bobo on drums.

Kenny Garrett is a Grammy Award winning American post bop jazz saxophonist and flautist, who gained fame as a member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and Miles Davis' band as a young man. He has since pursued a critically acclaimed solo career, and most recently, by joining a supergroup of jazz musicians, titled the Five Peace Band.

King Crimson guitarist/founder Robert Fripp's famous quote that "King Crimson is a way of doing things" has seldom seemed truer than on THE POWER TO BELIEVE. The group's second studio album as a quartet in the wake of old hands Tony Levin and Bill Bruford's departure fits fully into the ever-shifting but consistently regenerative Crimson continuum. "Level Five" and the multi-part title track are pounding, counterpoint-filled tunes that hark back to Crimson's oft-revisited touchstone "Larks Tongues in Aspic."

An intro plus nine tracks deliver skillfully executed, unrelentingly bludgeoning death metal that’s true to the obscurity of the underground. The music stands on its own as a collection of original, authentic sonic assaults, but fans of Incantation, old Sinister, and all who love to sink their teeth into complex death metal brutality will take notice where it’s all coming from.

Jonas Hellborg (born June 7, 1958) is a Swedish bass guitarist. He has collaborated with John McLaughlin,Trilok Gurtu, Ustad Sultan Khan, Fazal Qureshi, Bill Laswell, Shawn Lane, Jens Johansson, Michael Shrieve, V. Selvaganesh, Mattias IA Eklundh and Buckethead.

The Complete Jam contains a number of British television performances and spreads them out over two discs. There is the BBC's popular The Old Grey Whistle Test, Marc (hosted by the flamboyant Marc Bolan of T-Rex fame), The Tube (which features an impromptu Peter Weller interview), and Something Else. There are 12 television spots with over 30 song performances. Also included are 16 videos of some of their most popular songs including Town Called Malice, That's Entertainment, Eton Rifles, and Start!. The set continues with contribution pieces Scene: The Fan Phenomenon and The Jam: A Time and a Place, which are insightful looks into the band and serve to augment the videos.

An all-star studio session capturing some of the giants of post-war jazz performing a series of classic set pieces. Also features jazz material from vintage American television with performances from Ahmad Jamal and Buck Clayton plus the 'Sound of Miles Davis' broadcast in its entirety with Miles and the incomparable John Coltrane in one of his few surviving TV appearances.

Violinist Stéphane Grappelli's maturity is nicely mapped by this Verve Jazz Masters compilation containing 14 recordings made between September 1966 and May 1992. A skilled improviser whose lengthy career began in the '30s when he co-led the Quintet of the Hot Club de France with Django Reinhardt, Grappelli had a very productive comeback during the time period covered by this collection. The cast of creative collaborators includes guitarists Diz Disley, Ike Isaacs, and Larry Coryell, pianists Michel Legrand and George Shearing, and bassists Eberhard Weber and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen.

Until now J.B.O. mainly used German lyrics. Because of this their range was limited to our neighbours, Austria and Switzerland. But via the release of this ‘Happy Metal Thunder’ album the band wants to spread out their wings to other countries, and therefore this album is some sort of best of album, with older successful tracks of the band translated into English.

Blues review German guitarist and songwriter Gregor Hilden is back with yet another masterpiece blending his uncompromising mix of blues and jazz inclinations. Playing with his 1959 Les Paul, Hilden brings to fore jazz-laden phrasing, concise and economical noting, and a need for classical renderings within the blues.
