This trio dabbled in the west coast style mainly, and featured, like the recent Lazy Racer review, three lead vocalists who share the duties among them. The band was put together by transplanted Canadian Chris Kearney, while all the other names above had careers before this, releasing solo albums and/or playing with notable other acts/artists.

Incredibly, as Popa chubby has improved over the years on guitar. Already the first notes of the CD show: here a musician has grown together with his guitar, so that you do not know who there plays with whom.On this album, Hendrix is celebrated, what must be also the claim that there are countless cover - versions of his hits, so it must be shown as something "Special".
This works playing chubby, for each track is garnished with guitar solos, which, in particular on the two live - slices, to true orgies degenerate ("Little Wing" or "Hey Joe"!). Since the one or the other sound, which makes but absolutely nothing is times because the intensity, with the chubby Hendrix plays and feels, can simply not always properly articulated.

Mylène Jeanne Gautier was born in the town of Pierrefonds near Montreal on September 12th 1961. Her father, an engineer, was employed in Canada at the time building a dam system and Mylène and her brothers and sister (Brigitte, Michel and Jean Loup), were brought up in the French-speaking province of Québec. When Mylène was 10 the family returned to France, settling in the Paris suburb of Ville d'Avray. In her teenage years Mylène was passionate about horses and she would devote all her free time and energy to riding. But 17-year-old Mylène's other great passion in life was acting and she would eventually abandon the stables to take a three-year course at the Cours Florent, a prestigious drama school in Paris.

Leo Feigin, owner of Leo Records, has to be commended for many things. He recorded the work of so many great Russian free jazzers for those of us in the West (before the Iron Curtain was torn asunder), beginning with the Ganelin Trio; he recorded the Anthony Braxton Quartet's complete series of concerts in Coventry, London, and Birmingham (no matter what Braxton thinks of those gigs, they are valuable and should be available); and he was the first to bring us the work of Hungarian composer and soundscapist Tibor Szemzo.

This is an unusual set that has been reissued on CD. During an era when many Broadway and movie scores were recorded in jazz settings (thanks in part to the success of Shelly Manne's best-selling My Fair Lady album), guitarist Barney Kessel chose to interpret nine melodies from Bizet's opera Carmen. The guitarist is heard in three different settings: joined by five woodwinds and a rhythm section; with five jazz horns (including altoist Herb Geller and trumpeter Ray Linn) and a trio; and with vibraphonist Victor Feldman in a quintet. Kessel also wrote the arrangements, which pay tribute to the melodies while not being shy of swinging the themes. An interesting if not essential project.

One of the all-time great tenor saxophonists, Stan Getz was known as "The Sound" because he had one of the most beautiful tones ever heard. Getz, whose main early influence was Lester Young, grew to be a major influence himself and to his credit he never stopped evolving. Getz had the opportunity to play in a variety of major swing big bands while a teenager due to the World War II draft.
