Uninvisible is further than ever from conventional jazz organ. While blues and funk influences are evident throughout the album, they float on a sea of shadows. Sound sources are obscure or exotic; on "Pappy Check" innovative scratching by turntablist DJ Olive creates an impression of African percussion more than club atmospherics. Even where the instrumentation is less ambiguous, the trio steers toward a filmic noir sensibility, with Medeski leading the way in unorthodox techniques.

Jeff Kashiwa has a fluent if generic style on soprano, alto, and tenor, which fits perfectly into the "feel good" smooth music that he performs on "Peace of Mind." The 11 selections clock in between 3:46 and 5:14 and were clearly recorded with hopes of getting maximum radio airplay. Kashiwa's rhythm section is effective if anonymous (despite the presence of Brian Bromberg on bass) with the focus being almost entirely on the leader's melodic playing.

A Man and a Half: The Best of Wilson Pickett is a double-disc set that collects the absolute cream of Pickett's early sides with The Falcons and all the highlights of his successful alliance with the Atlantic label. With "Mustang Sally," "In the Midnight Hour," "Ninety Nine & a Half," "Hey Jude," "Land of 1000 Dances," "You're So Fine," and "634-5789" all included, this excellent compilation should be one of the cornerstones of anybody's soul collection.

Greek thrashers SUICIDAL ANGELS will release their new album, "Divide And Conquer" via NoiseArt Records. Comments SUICIDAL ANGELS guitarist/vocalist Nick Melissourgos: "We recorded again in the Prophecy & Music Factory Studios and the mix and master this time was done by Fredrik Nordström (HAMMERFALL, IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY) at Fredman Studios. We didn't know what to expect for the final result, but what we got is killer. He managed to combine the old-school feeling of our music with an up-to-date production of 2013. [It sounds] absolutely massive!". The cover artwork for "Divide And Conquer" was created by another well-known name in the metal biz — legendary cover artist Ed Repka, who has previously worked with MEGADETH, DEATH and MUNICIPAL WASTE.

In a time of such uncertainity the word fear has become common-place, but Building 429 is not willing to accept that mentality. We Won't Be Shaken, the band's newest recording reminds us that fear is an inhibitor of what God wants to do in our lives. With the band's signature gigantic choruses and thoughtful, bold messaging, We Won't Be Shaken is about erasing fear, standing firm and believing in a God who cannot be shaken.

Disc one features the band's 1969 debut album, Wasa Wasa, and the single "Up Yours!"/"Freedom," as well as side one of 1970's Sing Brother Sing. Disc two continues with the second side of that offering, the A-side of the "Apache Drop Out" single, and the complete 1971 self-titled album. Disc three begins with 1972's Inside Out, rounded off by the B-sides "Someone" and "Mr. Crosby." It concludes with side one of 1973's Oora. The final disc begins with the second side of Oora and finishes with the aforementioned 45-minute live gig.

While the name of the combo and the bio both suggest jazz standards of the 30s and 40s a la Django Reinhardt, this recording bears little resemblance to any of its Paris (almost) namesake. There is the Grappelli-like violin style of Nik Brown and some lovely jazz guitar from Andrew London, but Terry Crayford's piano and smooth vocals along with the wit and vocal edge of London's songs take this album into a very different terrain. In fact Andrew London's Middle Class White Boy Blues sort of sums it up. It's great! Polished performances all round, plenty of variety and a sense that they're not taking it all too seriously. Yes, it's jazz but not for the purists, it's way too accessible!

Quiet, subtle piano and voice (let's talk about it later): "It's early in the morning, when they come, and I like to sleep until three, but she hates this life as much as I…" starts first track here, Whiskers. I've realized that even this song looks like love song about his girl, "whiskers" reference hints that it's actually about his cat. Good one Rikard, you got me here. Oh, I almost forgot, his voice was one of the best things about Beardfish (one of more great things about this band), so here, it simply shines.

Recorded at Seattle s Avast Studio, July pairs Nadler for the first time with producer Randall Dunn (Earth, Sunn O))), Wolves in the Throne Room). Dunn matches Nadler s darkness by creating a multi-colored sonic palette that infuses new dimensions into her songs. Eyvind Kang s strings, Steve Moore s synths, and Phil Wandscher s guitar lines escalate the whole affair to a panoramic level of beautiful, eerie wonder.

On piano is Jim Howard and Les Peetz, both top notch players well known for their creativity and empathetic accompaniment talents. On drums we have Chuck James and Lew Maddox, who have both been at the top of the jazz drummer list in Hawaii for many years. On upright bass is Miles Jackson, one of the most talented jazz bassists to have ever lived and played in this island paradise.
