Aheym is Dessner’s (b. 1976) debut as a composer, enlisting the California-based Kronos Quartet to lift his compositions off the page rather vividly. One of Aheym’s biggest strengths is how a quartet ... sounds so robustly full and rich. This is a major testament to the quartet’s masterful technique and cohesion as a unit. With Dessner at the helm, Kronos Quartet execute his pieces with majestic excellence, bucket-loads of character, and a precision that’s almost deadly.

2014 release from multi-instrumentalist Andrew Markuszewski (AKA Aamonael), one of the founding members of the popular and notorious Nachtmystium and current member of blackened Sludge Metal abomination Lord Mantis. Avichi is his solo outlet to show that he is one of the premier visionaries in today's Black Metal scene.The album is a virulent yet enlightening expression of sophisticated Black Metal and the artist's most accomplished work to date. Needless to say, it is an essential release for fans of cult entities such as Leviathan, Negative Plane, Lurker Of Chalice, Deathspell Omega, Katharsis and early Nachtmystium.

This is a great album for Zimbabwe, Africa. Mokoomba are a young group with an amazing energy, feel and rhythms. I also loved the fact that the booklet is available on their website so the songs have a translation and it's interesting to see what they are singing about. The arrangements are original, new and traditional at the same time and the vocals impressive. I would recommend this album to any African music lover!

One of the most unusual and charismatic rock acts have announced the release of the latest studio album for January 2014. "Up the Dosage" picks up seamlessly where their 2009 release "From Hell To Texas" left off. And what is more: their five-year hiatus seems to have done frontman Blaine Cartwright (vocals, guitar) and Ruyter Suys (guitars) good - all 13 new songs sound like they were catapulted into to the public from a fountain of youth, rocking in typical Pussy style. Up the Dosage features the first recordings from new bassist Bonnie Buitrago who took over the bass player duties from Karen Cuda.

The first Pink Floyd show ever recorded, one of the two featuring Syd Barrett. This RoIO is of very important signification and features two very songs (Stoned Again, aka Stoned Alone, aka Stone rust) and Rush in A Million, as well as their rejected third single Scream Thy Last Scream. With his second album Black Action Figure, Stefon Harris still is finding his footing as an innovator, yet he is well on his way to developing his own exciting sense of style. At its core, this is fairly traditionalist hard bop, but there is energy and unpredictability to Harris' playing that makes it feel chancier – and he does push harder at the borders of bop this time around. That added sense of adventure, along with the robust spirit of his supporting band, makes Black Action Figure another winner for Harris.
